    What's up dude?

I'm going to try to ride my bike to work a few times this summer to save a little money. I tested it out today, it's about 7.5 miles one way, and I did it in about 45 minutes.

As for food increasing, I usually shop at the discount grociery stores and try to buy stuff on sale, so there's not much more I can do, other than starve myself, which isn't going to happen! I kind of doubt that food prices will double by this winter, that's a little drastic!

If you believe in those "worst case senerios" and are an investor, I'd recommend buying gold (GLD) or a commidity etf like DBC. Good luck!

Gas prices send me to public transportation and car pooling. I grow as much of my own food as I can. I downsized by selling my home just before the housing glut and now live in a small apartment. It's not a biggie.

We are debt-free except our house and have a 3-month emergency fund. This gives us plenty of cash flow to handle temporary problems like this.

We lived frugally and worked hard to pay off and save up for the last couple of years.

PLAN AHEAD--THINK BEFORE YOU LEAP! Keep a list of items that you will need within the next two weeks. Write down all of the errands that you will need to do that week. This will prevent you from going back and forth to the same store.
