Can't connect with cable modem, but it connects with router?

Hello, i have a d-link 624 and i used time warner cable Internet. When i have the router plugged in i can connect to the Internet, but when i plug it into my cable modem i can't connect. Is there any settings i have to change or is my modem just busted?

    you are connecting so the modem is fine.i ran across this problem b4 and the solution i got was when u use a router the modem is in bridge mode so it will only connect with the router in that mode.if im not mistaken you can use 192.168.1.1 or numbers to that effect which ever your isp uses and log in and change the setting.another way is to log on and copy all that u see in the config section.then call your isp and let them set it up without the bridge mode and write those settings down.that way u can config them yourself the next time the problem occurs
