Charcoal Lighter Fluid Storage?
Is it safe to store charcoal lighter fluid in glass? Right now I have it in an empty cottage cheese container, but I'm not so sure about that. Seems like glass might be better.
I have one of those chimneys now, and prefer to use that instead of the fluid, but I had this fluid and was cleaning outside and it started leaking through a slit in the container.
I just need a safe way to keep it contained. Hope someone can help.
As I said, the orginal container is cracked and leaking, which is why I asked what would be safe to pour it into ... and we can't have open fires where I live.

If you don't need it, pour it on a pile of leaves and have yourself a nice fire.
I would take a funnel, and store it inside of a plastic bottle.

Plastic is made from a number of chemicals, but mostly oils. Oils are also the main ingredient of lighter fluid, and the some charcoal have a lighter fluid already on them. So, you are likely smelling the oils, whcih may be similar, or even the same in the lighter fluid and the container.

The problem keeping it in glass is that if falls, the contents (naphtha) will spill. Besides smelling bad, it is flammable. Best would be metal, second best would be plastic it came in.
Use it up in your chimney and then don't worry about it.

It should be kept in the container that it came in when you bought it. And store it in a shed outside your home if possible
