Hi. You don't specify what type of job you're going for, or what type of grocery store it is (is it a small family business? Is it part of a national chain?) but here goes with some general tips:

    1. Look smart

Dress up, rather than down, even if every person you've seen working there wears jeans or a uniform. You want to look professional so keep the colours subdued (NOT your red party dress!) and keep your makeup and jewellery toned down as well. You want to look groomed and presentable, so no scruffy hair or crumpled shirts. Look like you put in effort, but also be comfortable enough in your outfit to look as if you dress like this all the time.

    2. Be prepared for hard questions

The interview will be filled with questions, so prepare yourself for the most obvious ones, like:

    a) Why do you want this job, rather than any other job?

    b) What qualifications/experience do you have that will help you in this job? I know this is your first job, but dig deep, for example: stuff you did in school/in your spare time that taught you customer service skills, what makes you a good people's person, you're good with numbers because...

    c) What are your future career plans? They want to know if you're going to go the distance or leave in two weeks' time. Let's assume that you don't want to work in this grocery store for the rest of your life - you don't have to lie about that, but make sure you reassure them in terms of your longer-term employability. For instance, you could turn this into a question for them, and ask them what future prospects they can offer you. Say you're just starting out, and you want to gain experience and grow with the company - where do they see you within their organisation in the next two to three years?

    3. Be prepared to ask some questions of your own

Companies like this, because it shows that you're interested in them. If it's a national chain, do a bit of research about them and come up with a few intelligent questions that you can throw into the conversation. If it's a local, do some research about grocery stores in general so that you can ask some clever questions about, say, stock control or cashing up or whatever.

    4. Have all your documents organised

Have your CV with you, and if possible have more than one copy. I've always used this to my advantage (and I've been in tons of interviews). This way you can give them a copy, and go through it step-by-step by following on your own copy. It also shows that you were interested enough to make some effort, and that's probably the most important tip about interviews - make an effort, be super-punctual, be prepared, and be ready to talk - they want to hear you sell yourself.

Hope this helps, and best of luck :)

Dress up like black slacks and a nice blouse. Smile a lot and make eye contact. Also say what u think they would want to hear thats how i get hired.

At least let them know you're alive! Haha. I interviewed this guy a few days ago and he answered all the questions like he didn't care, almost like he was dead. What a GREAT first impression... don't be overly cheesy either!! Be yourself!

Dress conservatively. Keep good eye contact, interviewers like that more than anything.

Wear some nice black slacks and a white blouse (always over dress)

And honestly, tell them what they want to hear - that is how I got my current job!!

I would recommend you are respectful and just be yourself.

I would wear semi formal attire such as slacks or khaki pants and a nice button shirt.

    Good luck!
