I have just set up a new email address to complain about petrol & diesel prices in the UK. Please join me and?

send an email to wepaytoomuch@yahoo.co.uk and tell us your feelings about the fuel prices in the UK. Did you know we currently pay a minimum of 50p in duty for a litre of petrol!!

Update:

Its fine, some people saying don't use your car etc. However I use my car for business purposes, I run a distribution company and I can hardly do that on a bike can I!!

    We dp pay a lot.

    But how about - wedrivetoomuch

We have a problem with over dependacne on cars. Roads are full anbd the air is polluted.

Government and scientists will tell us till blue in the face that we should use cars less. Do we? No. The only way is to increase prices.

Unless you have a better solution?

And don;t just say 'improve public transport' as that needs to be paid for by guess what....taxes. And who better than those who insist on usinig thier cars?

We here in South Africa are complaining bitterly about the price of petrol that has gone up again. But I do believe the UK has one of the highest rates.

Unfortunately one has to own a car here as there isn't much of public transport and what there is isn't safe as most of the "taxis" are not road worthy and the drivers don't abide by the rules of the road.

I heard a theory the other day, we are constantly being told to be more "GREEN" and use our cars less, so we use less fuel, which in turn means less income for the gov. so they increase the tax on fuel to make up for the shortfall in useage.

    Sounds possible, dont you think?

EDIT : am i also right in thinking that oil/petrol is a commodity and is traded on the stock exchange and the value goes up if there is a high demand and down if there is little demand?

The fuel prices in UK are ridiculous. Every time their is a supply crisis, the price rockets up but when supply levels return the price doesn't go back to its original amount (whats all that about???).

I refuse to by a car and instead walk or get public transport whenever I can. Brown's probably sitting in his office right now, dreaming up new ways to tax us all.

As a side issue, another pet hate of mine is the increase in a pint of lager. Browny increases tax by 4p a pint but by the time it gets to my bar, I pay an extra 10-15p.

As comedian Chris Rock said "Who's winning? It ain't us. Have you driven around this [expletive]?". (I'd love to drive around but just can't afford it!!!).

i agree we do pay to much i heared recetly that it costs 11p for production and shipping to get the fuel to the UK.

it is then the duty and petrol station that add another £1 onto the price to make it 1.11 per liter which is what it is in my area at the moment.

you have just had an email sent to your new inbox (by the way i live in Deal, Kent)

The answer is really very simple.

    Don't buy the stuff.

Most car journeys are completely unnecessary and can be undertaken by other means such as legs, cycles, public transport.

Go for it - ditch the car, lose the expense you may be pleasantly surprised at how well you get on without it, not to mention the good it will do to your bank balance.

Source(s): I got rid of my car last year.

What you going complain about when we've run out? The prices are rising as the amounts drop. Its like gold, only valuable because theres not loads of it left!!!!

Maybe you shouldn't use your car so much :-) get a bike, get fit and be GREEN.

Yes, I'll complain about fuel prices.

They're much too low. The duty should be doubled at least.

  • I am glad someone is making a stand

but when people email you, what happens then?
