Believing in the wrong god is probably worse, because any real gods that may be out there will be more likely to be upset by that than by simple equal-opportunity atheism.
Which would hurt *you* more: A guy you fancy simply not kissing you, or a guy you fancy kissing your best friend and telling her how terrible you are and how glad he is to be with her? Exactly, and you're just a mortal .....

Well -- it would be nice if we could all believe in the 'right' God as follows:

Why would a God care if his existence was believed, or worshipped, or not. What difference could it possibly make to him? Is it an ego thing?
And why would I be condemned to a hell just for not believing his existence or not worshipping him?

Which is the wrong one? More than that, which is the right one? Better to believe in none if those questions can't be answered.

there is no such thing as a wrong god, everyone is free to choose to worship what they want. the only thing that matters is leading a good life---no killing, stealing, scheming. a person can be good without believing in any god.

You make a good point ,with so many religions out there ,they would all disagree on the way you went. i tend to believe that there are many roads too God. not just one.
