REAL Red Sox fans, how do you feel about all the bandwagon fans jumping on Red Sox nation?

It seems like less than 10 years ago, the majority of the bandwagon fans were rooting for the Yankees because they were winning, but over the past 4 years it seems all these Red Sox fans are coming out of the wood work, rooting for the new team that is hot and winning? Im sure you see them too, how do you feel about the large number of fake fans who have jumped ship?

Update:

first poster, you think the Angels will get where? Will sweep what?

You fools wont get past the A's in the West, let alone make the playoffs.

Update 2:

And yes I agree, a Red Sox fan means one less Yankee fan.

But I live out in California, and its funny to see how people react 2500 miles west to whatever happens good in sports.

I dont know how many Red Sox bumper stickers, decals, and license plate holders i have seen recently, i don't "hate" them or fellow fans. I just think its odd how someone can wake up and say...Yeah, imma go with whoever the winner is.

That same fake fan would be rooting for the Rockies if the unthinkable happened is what im saying.

Rocktober is long over!

I've been a Red Sox fan basically my whole life, one of my first baseball memories was Bucky Dent's home run in that 1978 playoff game. I've seen the bad and had the heartbreak, and am glad to see the success! I don't have a problem with fans adopting the Red Sox as their own, however they need to realize that unless you've felt the heartbreak you will never be a true Red Sox fan, and if you jump off the bandwagon as quickly as you jumped on, you deserve to get run over by it!!!

    1. Are you happy that Theo has chosen to not make any drastic moves? No. The new Steinbrenners have shown that they're willing to open up the checkbook and will sign and sign and sign as many top-notch players as they can. Theo needs to be able to compete and that means getting guys like Halladay/Holliday & Bay/Gonzalez if they become available. There's still a lot of time to make these moves, and if the Sox don't make some major moves to improve, they'll be looking up at the Yankees again. 2. Would you be ok if the sell out chain is broken at some point in the 2010 season? It won't happen, barring any problems with Fenway Park itself. But who cares, really? We don't go to games for the ambiance, we go for the product on the field. And maybe less folks at the old ballyard will give me some more leg room. 3. Would you even go as far to say that you would be happy if the Red Sox weren't that good this year and you would be happy that the bandwagon fell off? I'd love to see the pinkhats disappear, but, as more time passes, the pinkhats are becoming more knowledgable. It's like they're five years old now. Maybe we can teach them how to read (a scorecard) this summer.

I see what you mean and I agree. However, i don't believe those "yankee" fans ever stopped rooting for the sox, its just more exciting to watch a winning team i guess. Ten years ago I was only 12 but I was born and raised to love the sox and despise ny yankees.

I've hated the Red Sox, and the Yankees for as long as I can remember.

As a Red Sox fan, I'm surprised you care that people are "jumping on". Up until 2004 the Red Sox were an irrelevant team. If fans are jumping on at least you know your team is winning.

Don't try and argue that they weren't irrelevant, any team that flirts with the century mark between World Series titles was irrelevant.

Hey i might be a bandwagon fan of the sox and its only because of players like Pedro, Manny, and Ortiz. I like pedro in the expo's days, manny in his Indians days, and as a huge twins fan, hated seening Ortiz go. Who cares if people jump on a bandwagon, would you rather them hate the sox. I like the sox cause this is a team full of guys who i think actually have fun play in and day out. If you want to "Hate" on people rooting for your team thats fine, just realize how dumb that really is.

Let me answer this question with another:

Does it take fans away from the Yankees? :)

I think you know where I stand.

Let people do what they want. More fans for the best team in the world is a good thing. No matter who they rooted for in the past. Look at Jimmy Fallon. He was a Yanks fan before he did "Fever Pitch," then he converted. I say the more the merrier. Welcome to the "right" side.

It used to really bother me, but now, I'm used to it.

Bandwagon fans are the worst...but they'll be torturing fans of another team as soon as the Red Sox have a bad season.

They love it... just like Yankees fans love it...

Because most of them are bandwagon fans...

There are very few true fans when it comes to major market teams.
