How much should roofing cost.?

To tear down wood shingles and install metal roofing on a two story with a 45 degree roof, about 3,000 square feet (with two valleys and a dormer) located in the mountains in Southern California. Any help is appreciated.

roofing is charged by the square. it can vary a good deal between contractors. get at least three estimates, and the middle est. should be in the ball park. that is a fairly hard roofing job, don't be price shocked.

I would say between $7,000 and $9,500 depending on flashings, subsheating, and other things such as access to edge of roof to throw wood shingles on trucks, landfill fees.

It's and educated guess but still a guess.
