How do French Canadian people pronounce Francois?
My french Canadian friend named Francois pronounces it Fran-sways...but most people say frahn-swah. Do French people say it differently then americans?

It depends on your accent indeed. Even some French from some regions say "Fran-sway" (but I've never ever heard anyone pronoucing the "s" at the end; fran-swaz=Françoise, the feminine name)

The way you spelled it. If your colleague is French Canadian he is equally used to his name being pronounced with the French pronunciation as the English pronunciation. Don't worry, Christian is fine in an English-speaking setting. My name is Lynn (pronounced leen in France, but mainly Lynn in Quebec). When I am in France and people aren't familiar with Lynn, I say "Je m'appelle Line (leen), comme Caroline (Caroleen)"

Canadian-French is different from France-French. It's mainly different in pronunciation. So it all depends on what culture of language you are learning.

We pronounce it Fran-swa, not sways....never heard anyone pronounce it that way.....
