Is The Cleveland Indians Rotation The Best In Baseball?

I think if the bat come alive nobody in baseball can stop them. They already have 6 shutouts this year and in 5 other games games they have only aloowed one earned run.

Sabathia started out the year horrible-but has only allowed 6 Earned Runs in his last 4 starts, 3 of those were to one team. This is how the rotation looks thus far (Notice I have 6 pitchers since Wetsbrook went after 4 starts -22 year old Aaron Laffey has been filling in the rotation for him maginficently):

Cliff Lee: 0.68 ERA

Aaron Laffey: 1.83 ERA

Fausto Carmona: 2.40 ERA

Jake Westbrook: 2.73 ERA

Paul Byrd: 3.61 ERA

CC Sabathia: 6.55 ERA

(Jeremy Sowers was called up for one game vs the Yankees going 1-0 , 0.00 ERA)

The Indians now have the second best ERA in MLB at 3.40, only trailing Oakland (3.32 ERA). The Tribe pitching staff has given up 3 runs in the last 5 games.

When, not if, these guys get the bats going (Slowly looks like it is starting to happen)-can anyone in MLB match this pitching

Update:

The above should have read "Westbrook went on the DL after 4 starts"

Update 2:

To the guy who made the post about Westbrook and Laffey-last I remember Jake Westbrook had the beat ERA in the American league the last half of the 2007 season (after returning from the DL). As far as Laffey-22 year old kid who was LIGHTS OUT vs. Boston and NYY last year in the postseason-I see no signs that he can't dominate. Byrd also won 15 game slast year and was 1-0 in the postseason, defeating Boston.

Update 3:

Yeah 'd say it is early too-IF WE WERE talking about a team like Tampa Bay. Clevelands pitching was there last year-no shock it is stronger this year. No fluke people...it is what it is.

Absolutely. You don't get a break, 1-2-3-4-5. all solid pitchers(at worst). But, I'm afraid, until we start hitting it isn't going to matter that much, and fortunately it seems the bats are coming around.

I think it is the best in baseball, and that's as it should be. I think Arizona's the only team with 2 better pitchers at the top of the rotation, as Sabathia and Carmona are both bonafied aces. Lee, Westbrook and Byrd have all shown greatness in the past...if the Indians can ever start getting consistent hitting, they'll be unbeatable.

They do have a very good rotation, but Laffey, Westbrook, and Byrd aren't going to be as good as they are right now (especially Laffey), and Lee, even if he is back to his form from a few years ago, isn't going to maintain a sub 1 ERA for the season

They might have one of the best rotations in the league, but their 4th and 5th starters won't be aces the whole way

they'd o.k. be the wonderful, yet i think of you're going somewhat too some distance with the aid of asserting no team "holds a candle" to them. i think of the Blue Jays, Dodgers, San Diego, Seattle (i'm leaving out Angels and Mets simply by modern well being subject concerns) are, a minimum of, such as the Tribe's starters. it particularly is all purely "on paper", so who's familiar with? Baseball has a bent of writing that is own script. Shawn G: that is complicated to take your solutions heavily once you seem to coach no objectivity by any skill. i do no longer concepts which you like your team and are biased in direction of them, yet why all the venom and negativity in direction of people's opinion. there are a thank you to disagree without sounding like an offended and bitter previous guy. relax, dude.

They definiely have solid and deep starting pitching. But they need to start hitting and add another arm to the back end of the bullpen since Borowski's not getting the job done. Wouldn't be surprised if they tried to deal Sowers for an outfielder or third baseman.

Yeah, you would think so, when Aaron Laffey is the 2nd best in a rotation with those names, but as the saying goes "good pitching wins ballgames", I would have to say the team with the best record in baseball, The Tampa Bay Rays have the best rotation in the MLB up to this point, with the Arizona Diamondbacks coming in as the 2nd best in the league.

Right now it sure looks that way... but it's very early in the season and they've faced a lot of bad teams so far too.

Even the Yankees really aren't hitting the ball well yet this year... so i suspect that a few of those guys are gonna come back to Earth, especially Cliff Lee.

I wish they would come out of their hitting slump. Although the last week they have been coming around. If they come out comepletely, they are a force to be reckoned with. The only thing that could ruin this question is if Boston fan comes in and says something.lol

    I think they really do

    Cliff Lee is downright nasty

and everyone else is doing better than their ace last year

should be a good sign for the Tribes

Time will only tell. The season is still young.
