Does anybody think...?
that it should be law that whenever someone from a certain political party is elected President, that they should have to pick someone from a different party as VP. Do you think that this would solve a lot of problems in Washington? Or create more? Curious of your thoughts.
Can't everybody just get along?
It seems like anymore that anything could lead to an assasination. Obama because of his Ethnic background, Clinton because she is a woman, McCain because democrats hate republicans. Someone will always find a way to hate.
Maybe to add more to this, that we have the exact same number of Senators, Legislatures, etc. So that one party does not have more power than the other.

You think like me... it would make sense to have a non chaotic environment especially when it came to the well being of a nation.. Unfortunately, if you take time to research real American history (none of the sugar coated stuff) then you will see, America is not a place where people get along.

That would create a lot of problems. The VP is there as the Presidents right hand. If they were from two different parties they would clash, not to mention the assasination attempts. That's why the senate is set up the way it is. I think a lot of "average" Americans forget that we have system of checks and balances in this country. The president is NOT a dictator. Everything goes through the Senate and/or the House. No matter what the President *wants* to happen, it has to go through so many other people to actually happen that it wouldn't really make a difference who the VP is.

Very poor reasoning. The Vice President fills in for the President and is part of his team. If a President undergoes surgery and is unable to preform for several days should an opposition politician be able to issue executive orders, declare war? Lets see President Hilary Clinton and Vice President Jeb Bush or President McCain and Vice President Harry Reid.

It used to be that the runner up was vice president. Don't remember why or when that changed but that was the original system.

the law now is that each elector votes for president and have a separate ballet for vice president so your Question should be why can't the people vote separately

It would never work and would only create more problems, I'm afraid. It's an interesting concept though, one I hadn't thought of. I think in reality it would lead to assassination, don't you?
