Is college graduation a gift occasion ?

We have received an "invitation" to our niece's college graduation. She is getting married in August and I am working on a commemorative wedding cross stitch.

I send high school graduation gifts without so much as a thank you note.

Is a college graduation gift necessary?

If you are attending the ceremony or party then you should bring a gift, if not then a card will do just fine.

Yes most give a gift for college graduation.

    Some students get greedy...

One friend in particular has sent out notices for her associates then bachelors then masters. After the first one i just gave her congratulations cards.

Yes, it is customary to send a gift a graduation, including a collegiate graduation.

Her failure to acknowledge her last gift means your obligation is smaller, but not gone. Maybe she's grown up since then.

A small gift appropriate to someone starting her adult life would be fine. I tend to give bookends, since all college graduates have more books than they used to.

I bet she has grown up since then. Give her one last chance - it does NOT have to be expensive gift at all. But send her something showing you care.

If she doesn't respond again at least you have not spent much money on her.
