Now that Henin has left the game, What are your thoughts on Maria Sharapova becoming the new World No.1?

it was a big shocker, she wasn't one of my favorite players but she sure did put up a heck of a match against top plaeyrs that always made u want to watch her. She is one of the best tennis players but now a new generation of players is setting in and it wasn't long before she would retire, i do expect the williams sisters to follow in her footsteps aswell as Mauresmo sooner or later. As for Sharapova she now has a much easier way to win more grans lams and expect to see her win many more and maybe this might be the year she will take them all. She is the new generation of great tennis players along with Ivanovic and others and for Sharapova on becoming the number one it was bound to happen soonner or later she deserves it and shows it by her many wins.

She deserves the top spot as much as anyone. She may not have the most varied game but she's got some big weapons and a lot of determination and a great fighting spirit. She is also the winner of the most recent Major (the 2008 Australian Open), so that makes her a worthy #1.

Maria was #2 so it is normal than she take over the #1 spot.

Well, it's not new to her and she said it is no big deal ~ winning tourneys is the more important thing than staying on top of the rankings. And she deserves it. She's been playing great so far... and i want all the best for her! <3

Maria deserves it, because the rankings don't lie. It's not her fault Henin is a quitter.
