Why do people on Y/A forget the passage, judge not lest ye be judged?

Why is it that there is so much hate, bigotry, and misunderstanding here in the R &S section? Why do so many questioners ask questions that are not questions but bigoted statements disguised as a question? Why do so many answerers not answer the question, but give a negative spewing of unrelated garbage to the question? Why do I see this from many different people that are all faiths, the agnostics, and the atheists? Why can't we ask questions and answer with politeness and dignity? Is it really necessary to degrade people?

Is it not a fact, there is nothing wrong with disagreeing on any topic? Isn't learning about other ideas and beliefs an easy way to end bigotry and hate? Is it wrong for me to hope for understanding from my fellow man?

Bill

Update:

I appologize for not giving the proper quote, it should be as the answerer said "Judge not, lest ye be judged by you own measure." The text continues, "For in the way you measure it will be measured unto you." I agree totally with that statement.

By the way I am not picking out any faith or lack thereof. I am pointing out what I see so often here on Religion & Spirituality

The bigotry and hatred are signs of the times. I'm sure there are those who will respond, "oh, great, another doomsday-er!" I'm not a doomsday-er, I'm just reiterating what the Bible says. We will know the "season" by the signs. Scripture says "...nation will rise up against nation...". That actually translates to ethnic groups rising up against each other. Sound familiar considering our current Presidential campaign and it's trials and tribulations? The Bible also speaks of daughters against mothers and sons against fathers. In other words, antagonism is to be the norm of the future. Disrespect is in full bloom. I have seen such a drastic change in every day life from my childhood to today. Had I "thought" some of the things said on Y/A, I would have disappointed my Mother to tears. Then when I realized I had hurt her so badly, I would have been mortified. Today, it seems no one cares. I retired early, in part, because of the attitudes, actions and divisiveness of some I worked with. You say, "Why not just go to work somewhere else?" That's just geography - the environment is unchanged.

No, there is nothing wrong with disagreeing and you should be able to seek understanding from others. I feel the same way, yet I find myself becoming more reclusive every day. My husband and I talk of this same topic frequently. My sister told me a while back that she and my brother-in-law "grieve for friends". Isn't that a sad statement? Unfortunately, I understand it perfectly.

There are those on Y/A R&S who will continue to ridicule and make horrible, vulgar statements (as interpreted by those of my like mind) but there will be those days when I will be blessed by something I read written by someone I've never met and maybe I can be a blessing to someone else.

It way I must check out my first-class to appreciate; for the reason that I can pass judgement on not anything I don't appreciate. Sometimes I do that good and this can be a triumph for either one of us. Sometimes I do that good and it's anything I want I didn't see. Sometimes I do that poorly and this can be a humorous 'fact'. Sometimes I do that poorly and make an @ss of myself. But I am consistently inclined to do not forget an enchantment. It is the equal approach I area myself to - and check out to pass judgement on the judgment handed on me as good. Going to heaven or hell does no longer leisure inside my judgment it doesn't matter what I come to a decision approximately whatever for others - I am no longer even specified that it concerns how I pass judgement on myself. That is God's choice. MY judgments I query - I believe God's judgments.

It's because some groups cannot stand it when they are challenged to their very core. When I read a question that doubts God I honestly get angry. But since I've been here a long time, I've realized spewing hate helps nothing, not even my anger. I just let it go.

Anyway, when someone's belief system is rocked to its very core, people lash out. When they lash out, the other group lashes out.

The truth is that this section should be given moderators to check every question and ensure the hate stops. Unfortunately Yahoo! is much too cheap to do anything like that.

It's not wrong for you, and I will hope along with you!

If an answer or a question is ask or given as response from the Bible, there is NO JUDGEMENT if it is done out of love. If, on the other hand, there is something personal in the question or respoinse, then that IS a problem. I guess this latter one is what you are meaning. Mainly cuz if out of love and coming from the Bible, no one can be called judgemental. Because they are answering or asking from the Word of God.

the scripture is in the bible

Mat 7:1 Judge not, that ye be not judged.

Mat 7:2 For with what judgment ye judge, ye shall be judged: and with what measure ye mete, it shall be measured to you again.

However it is taken out of context many times,

It means that if you judge some one unfairly, harshly or without mercy, you will be judged in the same manner. It is not instruction to NOT judge for we are to judge our brothers and sisters according to righteousness. But we are not to judge those outside of the faith

However we as Christians would be wise to keep our eyes on Christ instead of other Christians

It's a nice idea but in reality everybody judges everything every minute of the day, including what shoes to wear, what to say, who one approves of, who one does not approve of, what's wrong with the world, what's right with the world, who you like for president. Everybody gets molded into a perspective that, odds are, are going to grate with another perspective. But if I understand this correctly, a religious bigot full of hate is simply a hypocrite without a snowball's chance in hell of not going there.

I'm an atheist but yet I'm still less than a semester from a degree in Biblical Studies.

So -- please do not say things are in the Bible that are not in the Bible.

NOWHERE in the Bible is there a prohibition against judging.

The verse to which you are alluding is, "Judge not, lest ye be judged by you own measure." The text continues, "For in the way you measure it will be measured unto you."

This is not a prohibition against judgement, it is a prohibition against hypocracy. To assert it is a prohibition against judgement is to claim the Bible is an anarchist's text and it is anything but.

Not all people follow that particular line of thinking...

Some people are only on here to judge others...

I don't recommend it, but I also can't control it...

We can only hope that people who just stop by to spew judgements will grow tired of the site not celebrating them and the only people left will be those who wish to engage in thought-provoking questions and answers.

And there we go again! "Why can't we all get along?".

    Sigh. How arrogant.

In this R&S section we discuss war, abortion, hell, heaven, marriage, sex, euthanasia, politics, etc, etc. It's amazing how civilized it is in this section! Most of the people in this section give the most amazing answers.

The only holier than thou questions I see in this section, are questions like you just posted. Try focusing on the positive things a bit more, really.

i think you are right everyone has diffrent views on this but why cant people just respect each other and are diffrent views.i think their is some hate on the questions and answers because maybe that is all some people know is hate in their hearts and maybe someone people think they are allways right and their way is the only way.it is not right to put people down but some people are not happy in their own life so they want everyone else feel like crap
