Is it just me or does the East not look so weak in the playoffs?

The Celts not being able to win on the road aside, the Cavs and Detroit seem to be defensive power houses and I think either (and even the Celts) match up well against the Lakers, Jazz or Hornets, whoever makes the finals. I think the Hornets pose the worst threat to any of the East teams.

Am i off my rocker? I think the East will win this year...and relatively easily, maybe in 5. What do you all think?

Update:

I guess we'll see in a few weeks, but I can see Boston or Detroit beating the Lakers. I think the Hornets give a better matchup, but neither west coast team can play D. If Detroit or Boston (or even the Cavs) can keep the West coast team at or under 90 points, the East wins. Agree/Disagree?

My sure bet is Detroit. They have proven it two times they were in the Finals and they have a great chance of stealing the spotlight from any Western team. Celtics is not shabby either, although I'm not so sure about Cleveland (yes they got James but other than him they are one of the most underachieving teams following a blockbuster trade).

Western teams have the greater talent but in a seven game series you just never know. The team that adjusts so well at given situations is the team that will definitely get the crown.

    Hope this helps.

It's really hard to sort out since everyone in the East is winning blowouts at home and getting blown out on the road (even to Philly and the Hawks).

I really doubt it will be easy, the Lakers are damn good, as are the Spurs. The Hornets are actually beating good teams to advance, I doubt they would flop like Cleveland if they actually made the finals. Utah is probably the worst left in the West, but they beat the Pistons bad several times this year.

Boston or Detroit will make the finals competative even if they don't win it

I think you are right to think you are off your rocker. Whoever wins the West will win the Finals.

If anything, the East playoffs are only pointing out the fact that Detroit and Boston are anything but great teams. I was hoping for a great series between the Lakers and Celtics but now I think the Lakers will probably win in 5.

i dunno if they will win but i do think with all the hype the western conference brought into the playoffs that the east has had some better games, more drama.

there was this big race to see who makes it into the playoffs on the west and there games been a lot of blow outs and stuff.. for ex the nuggets, they didnt win a single game... i kinda wish my golden state thugged out warriors would have gotten the 8th seed.. atleast they play hard and are fun to watch..

houston didnt do nuttin although i cant really blame them tho.. they are ten times better team when yao is playin.. he is jus too good.. so its not there fault.

but on the east you got the up and comin hawks goin 7 wit the celts

you got the celts who cant buy a win on the road

you had the cavs vs wiz drama and all the extracurricular activity that went on wit that.

so the EC has suprised me with there play this playoffs

The east looks strong? uhh no. detroit got hit hard by philly but came out on top, boston were taken all the way with atlanta. while LA whopped denver, san antonio killed phoenix, new orleans murdered dallas and utah handled houston.

look at the top4 of each conf:

    LA > Boston

    N.O > Detroit

    San An > Cleveland

    Utah > Orlando

If these teams play right now i see the west winning all of them.

detroit or boston wont win a 7game series against a west team, i think a west team (lakers) is goin to win the finals very easily..

It's not just you. The Eastern Conference has been playing some great playoff basketball. I will say, that the top seeds of both conferences have not done much to impress.

The West has been beating themselves up all year. Perhaps that will take a toll on them in the Finals.

  • east was the weakest conference in the regular season... but when its playoffs time they have the most entertaining games to watch...
