if you can see the mold dont touch it - it will release spores

First spray it with White Vinegar - believe it or not many sites say that this works better than bleach-- (it certainly did for us i cannot tolerate bleach) use a spritzer bottle and wet the mold with it then and only then wipe the mold off and discard into plastic bags to be discarded.

even with the vinegar a mask is not a bad idea.

the house will smell like a pickle factory for a day or so but its worth it.

as an asthmatic i cannot use most chemicals but VINEGAR works and works well!!

You can get primers and paints at specialty paint stores (like Dunn Edwards) that are specifically designed to resist mold growth. You might also want to spray something like Tilex (chlorine based mold spray for moldy tile grout) on the affected area first. Just let it sit and dry, and then remove any residue with a wet cloth and paint over it.
