Here are some websites to point you in the right direction. You always want to tailor your cover letter to different jobs. You want to show them, based on your skills and qualifications, why you are perfect for the job. You also want to tell them how you found out about the position ( e. g. " I am responding to the nursing position at ( Name of rehab center) that I found on Monster.com). Or something to that effect. You also want to tell them that you are interested in setting up a time in which to speak. But make sure you take a active stance. A lot of cover letters say that they look forward to hearing from the company, but don't take any initiative. I recommend saying that you will contact them in a week to make sure that they have had time to review your resume and to see if there is a mutual time in which to speak. And then make sure you follow through and call in a week to check on the status of the position. Here are some websites that helped me get an idea of what I needed to say. Good luck!

The cover letter should express to the prospective employer your qualifications as it relates to the position for which you're applying and why you want to work for them--one to two paragraphs tops!
