Visiting an organization before an interview?

I would like to know more about an organization that I have put an application in with. I plan to call them and say that since I have an application in with them, I would like to get a tour of the facility to get a better feel for the organization. Is this a good idea?

it would show your interest and enthusiasm but however some companys depending on there time and schedules may decline the offer, security reasons and getting someone to give you a tour. If however you are successful in your application then they would by all means give you a tour. I would just wait and see if you get the job good luck

Maybe not. Will your position be highly compensated? If not, a personal tour for you would cost them money for the employee(s) who took you around instead of doing their real work. This expense is probably not allocated for in the company budget. You might ask for this courtesy at the end of the interview if it goes well. In the mean time research on the net. Good luck.

i think it's best if you do research over the internet or if you have a friend that works there that could give you an unofficial tour. the human resource dept. may find it a little forward. if after the interview you are interested in the job, i would ask for a tour so you can get a feel for the place.
