Is there a way we should immediately be notified if the question had already been removed?
Many times I have answered questions with lengthy reply only to find out that it had been removed by the asker or something. Will it not be wise to notify the answerer as immediately as possible so he/she can stop at once and go to the next quetion?

I guess not really...
Happened to me as well a couple of times, but the thing is, that there is no update in the page until U click submit, when it turns out if the question is no longer there. Maybe you could check it in the meantime in a new window, to make sure you don't write in vain, but I know, it's silly to do so...
Or another solution - if you do not want to be the first to answer, save it to your watchlists and if it's still there after an hour, answer it:)
I hope your question didn't get deleted, while I was writing ;P

That would have been nice but yahoo supports no such technology which allows it to refresh a page which you have already opened. Only when you refresh the page then only the information is refreshed. I too have had similar problems couple of dozens time.
