What are some good meals I can make with hamburger meat?

I'm looking for things outside of the obvious (obvious as in tacos, lasagna, spaghetti, hamburger helper, burgers...).

My mother in law had a cow butchered and gave us a TON of hamburger meat. I am trying to plan our grocery list around it, but I really want something different and a little healthier (as healthy as you can be with hamburger meat).

Any suggestions would be great!

Update:

I mean ground beef. I've always called it hamburger meat.

    These are my three favorites:

    IDAHO TACOS

    3 large baking potatoes

    1 tablespoon butter, melted

    1 pound ground beef

1 can (16 oz.) diced tomatoes

    1 envelope taco seasoning mix

    ½ cup cheddar cheese

    1/3 cup sour cream (optional)

Wash and bake potatoes (or microwave). Heat oven to 475 degrees. Cut each potato lengthwise into halves. Scoop out potatoes, leaving a ¼-inch shell. (Use potatoes as desired.) Brush outsides and insides of shells with margarine. Place shells, cut sides up, on ungreased cookie sheet (or baking stone). Bake uncovered until edges are brown, 15-20 minutes.

Cook and stir ground beef in a 10-inch skillet until brown; drain. Stir in tomatoes and taco seasoning. Heat to boiling; reduce heat. Simmer uncovered, stirring occasionally, 20 minutes. Spoon beef mixture into shells; sprinkle with cheese. Heat just until cheese is melted. Top each with sour cream, if desired. Serves 6.

    WET BURRITOS

    Filling:

    3 pounds ground beef

    1 medium onion, chopped

    16 oz. refried beans

    16 oz. tomato sauce

    2 teaspoons cumin

    1 teaspoon chili powder

    salt and pepper to taste

    large flour tortillas

    Topping:

    1 can enchilada sauce

    1 jar brown gravy

    16 oz. Cheddar cheese

Brown ground beef and onion; drain fat. Mix in remaining filling ingredients and heat. Wrap in tortillas and place on oven-proof platter or large baking dish. Mix enchilada sauce and gravy; pour over enchiladas. Top with cheese. Bake at 350 degrees until heated through.

    SHEPHERD'S PIE

    Serves: 4 to 6

    Preparation Time: 30 minutes

    Cooking Time: 1 hour

    4-6 potatoes for mashing

    6 oz butter

    2 oz grated cheddar cheese

    salt and pepper to season

    1 Tbsp vegetable oil

    4 fl oz milk

    1 onion, diced

    2 carrots, diced

    2 sticks of celery, sliced

    2 ¼ Lb ground beef

    10 oz. beef broth

1 Tbsp flour combined with 1 tbsp butter

    1. Put some oil in a skillet and sauté the onions. When they are soft and starting to brown, remove them from the skillet using a slotted spoon and set to one side.

    2. Sauté the carrots and celery until they start to brown; set aside.

    3. Pre-heat the oven to 425 degrees.

    4. Heat the oil with 2 oz. butter and add the meat, stirring it until it browns.

    5. As it browns add the carrots and celery.

    6. When the meat has browned add the stock and stir well.

    7. Stir in the butter and flour mixture to thicken the stock. Cook for a further couple of minutes and set the pan to one side.

    8. Boil the potatoes in salted water until soft.

    9. When the potatoes are soft, drain out the water and mash them with half of the remaining butter and grated cheese. If it is too thick add a little milk. When it has reached a smooth consistency stir in a pinch of salt and pepper to season.

    10.Stir in the sautéed onions.

11.Transfer the meat into the baking dish. Spread it out to make an even layer. Spoon over the mashed potato and tease the surface with a fork to create some texture. To finish, brush on the last of the melted butter.

12.Place the shepherds pie in the oven and back for half an hour.

Check the shepherds pie from time to time to make sure the potato isn't burning.

Tacos - get some taco seasoning and tortillas. Chop up lettuce, tomatoes, onions for toppings. We like grated cheddar on them too. Meatloaf - I mix a can of tomato sauce, an egg, chopped onion, some grated bread slices, and green pepper together and form a loaf and cook at 350 for about 45 minutes. You can put more sauce on the top if you want. Spaghetti - add cooked hamburger to the sauce and serve over pasta Lagagna - I use the recipe on the Muellers lasagna. Hamburgers are good if you add a package of onion soup mix and a little worcestershire sauce to 2 lbs. of ground beef before frying. I like hamburger helper, but I guess it can get old. What about tuna helper? I use the albacore tuna and it makes a lot of food.

Vegetable soup is really good with hamburger instead of roast etc. Asian rolls-use soft shells, make a hamburger-shredded vegatable mix. This can include cabbage, carrots, water chestnuts, celery, soy sauce etc. Fry hamburger, add prepared veggies, stir fry a minute, wrap and bake. Augratin potatoes-fried hamb, sliced potatoes, cheeses, other veggies and seasoning if desired. Bean soup-black beans, chicken broth, hot tomatoes, onions, celery, rice, hamburger. Look up any type of soup or casserole recipe and replace meat with hamburger.

    Asian Lettuce Wraps

    INGREDIENTS:

16 Boston Bibb or butter lettuce leaves

    1 pound lean ground beef

    1 tablespoon cooking oil

1 large onion, chopped 2 cloves fresh garlic, minced

    1 tablespoon soy sauce

    1/4 cup hoisin sauce

    2 teaspoons minced pickled ginger

    1 tablespoon rice wine vinegar

    Asian chile pepper sauce (optional)

1 (8 ounce) can water chestnuts, drained and finely chopped

    1 bunch green onions, chopped

2 teaspoons Asian (dark) sesame oil

    DIRECTIONS:

    1. Rinse whole lettuce leaves and pat dry, being careful not tear them. Set aside.

    2. In a medium skillet over high heat, brown the ground beef in 1 tablespoon of oil, stirring often and reducing the heat to medium, if necessary. Drain, and set aside to cool. Cook the onion in the same pan, stirring frequently. Add the garlic, soy sauce, hoisin sauce, ginger, vinegar, and chile pepper sauce to the onions, and stir. Stir in chopped water chestnuts, green onions, and sesame oil, and continue cooking until the onions just begin to wilt, about 2 minutes.

    3. Arrange lettuce leaves around the outer edge of a large serving platter, and pile meat mixture in the center. To serve, allow each person to spoon a portion of the meat into a lettuce leaf. Wrap the lettuce around the meat like a burrito, and enjoy!

Well there's always meat loaf... Stuffed bell peppers are delish, Mix cooked ground beef and onions with cooked rice and season to taste, stuff the bell peppers with the mixture and top with cheese and them bake for about 30 min at 350.

I never eat the bell pepper but it sure adds flavor to the meat mixture..good luck
