Convince me why I shouldn't vote for Obama...?
Here is the catch: Use actual arguments and justify them.
I really don't want to hear that he is Muslim, or a racist, or a moron, or a doodie head, or that he has no policies, or that he is just going to destroy the country...These are merely lies or unfair slanders and it doesn't prove anything to me. I want to here some real intelligent reasons with some real intelligent justifications.
I mean pretend I am an intelligent and rational human being and I am trying to decide who to vote for. I don't respond well to smears, but legitimate arguments can sway me to agree with your point of view. So convince me...
I appreciate the people who have followed my criteria, as you all sound very civil, and it makes me happy that people still have the ability to make arguments without resorting to 5 year old tactics.
Links to your sources please
Thanks everyone, I just wanted to see if people on Y!A had it in them to dig deep within themselves and come up with pertinent arguments, as opposed to this mudslinging that I have been so used to seeing on here. It has been a lot easier to see the other sides point of view when it is presented in a palatable and intelligent manner.

I'm voting for him... I do think he will be good for the country, but then again, I am a staunch Dem, so I would not vote for McCain under any circumstances... As Dems we must understand that a vote for McCain is a vote for the Republican party... If McCain is President, he will have a Republican cabinet, and will be swayed by the GOP.... Do you really want 4 more years of " Here we go again"

Im not gonna convince you of anything. I doubt that anybody in YA politics has ever changed anyones mind but i will tell yah all the answers above that said vote for the person that will help you the most are wrong. Vote for the person you believe will help the country the most! Not the one that says he is gonna give you more goodies.

He needs to be in the political circle longer, and make decisions, and not present votes on many important policies.
His friends and associates,are questionable?
The Woods Fund he is involved in is questionable?
He is a unknown person with no accomplishments.
He hasn't convinced many Americans he is electable.Or he would have swept Clinton away Months ago.

You have negated most of the reasons that people are going to give you. But one of my reasons is his lack of judgment. Any body who stays in a church like wrights for close to twenty years by choice, for what ever reason he gives for staying, as well as taking his daughters to hear it, shows a lack of judgment. And him saying that he didn't know what wrights beliefs were makes him either a liar or very unobservant. And any body that unobservant doesn't need to be in the highest position in this country. He has questionable ties with the wrong people. Whether you think he believes like they do or not, you have to question his judgment on why he has those associations. His comments on rural America shows me how much of an elitist he is. He did not think his words would be heard out side of that meeting, which shows me that he says what he has to in public, but shows his true feelings in private. And calling a female reporter sweetie and blowing her question off, also speaks of elitism as well as how condescending he is to people who are not important to his campaign. I don't think my point of view will convince you. But these are just a few of my reasons.

The cost of an Obama Presidency will be enormous. Say what you will about Bush, but at least our taxes didn't sky rocket. Granted we are in debt to our eyeballs, but with a responsible govt in place we will get out of debt. But I don;t know how Obama will pay for all these programs, like healthcare, better schools, fixing global poverty. Look, if we were taxed at high rates and had something to show for it, I would be ok with it. BUT we all know that Washington will only tax us and we will have nothing to show for. I think Obama will cave to the powers that put him in power. I don't think anything will change, even the war will remain and yet we will all be taxed at much higher rates. Just some food for thought. The Clintons were finally able to lower the defecit, so I know it is possible. But I just don't see Obama lowering the tax rates, fixing the debt and ending the war.

theres tons of that type info out there, if you are really serious try searching it.
you will get biased answers here.
Also, if you "need" to be told why you shouldnt at this stage in the game, then your question is not serious and nothing anyone says will change your mind.
I posted straight proof with videos and news stories and nothing but excuses are ever made for obama.
if you cant see all the publicity around all this obama crap, then you should use google and get more informed from reputable sources and NOT here.
Source(s): heres a tidbit straight from the congressional website.. obama missed 245 votes in the latest congress votes this year alone. (cant say its because he is running for office, they are informed ahead of time for this.) He voted "present" 139 times He was the ONLY senator to vote against a bill that will help sexual crime victims. Mind you now, the ONLY one. He voted NO to tougher sentences on gang related felonies. 1 month ago there were 20 gang related shootings in ONE week with 11 dead. they even drove back by and shot at the cop. thats 20 different instances in one week in chicago. He has NO universal healthcare. from his own mouth in a debate with edwards and hillary, hillary said his plan wouldnt cover 15 million people. obama says, "Well, my advisors did the math and its only about 9 million that wont be covered." BUT every american will be taxed for but not get it. - Anonymous1 decade ago
I don't agree with my econ. teacher, but he says that Obama would raise capital gains tax, which would discourage investments. And he wants to keep social security programs run by big companies, whereas McCain would apparently privatize social security.
Again, I don't agree with these reasons, but I respect my teacher for providing actual reasons for voting for McCain instead of just telling us Obama is a racist, bigoted, anti-American Islamic terrorist extremist radical black liberation theology antisemetic cult-bringing Hitler-sounding Antichrist sissy.

Did some research on him, and it seems like his only ACCOMPLISHMENT to date is that he was able to obtain funds to start a program for single teenage parents in a Chicago high school. Other than that, he hasn't really accomplished anything. BTW, writing laws, giving speeches, attending meetings, visiting people, attending important functions, being a part of groups/affiliations, voting on laws don't count as ACCOMPLISHMENTS. Accomplishments are things that a person sets out to do and gets them done. (i.e. - Bill Clinton, when he was governor of Arkansas - proposed welfare reform, welfare was reformed. Proposed to balance the state's budget, state's budget was balanced for most of his tenure as Governor.)
Up to date, Arnold Schwarzenegger has accomplished more in his political career than Obama.
Obama is a good talker - even I enjoy his speeches - and he's a nice guy, but he just hasn't really done anything to prove that he's ready for the job.
