Will teams still continue to go all out for the undefeated season?
After what the Patriots accomplished in the regular season, and then what happened to them in the Super Bowl, will teams now be less likely to try for an undefeated regular season?
The perfect regular season has now been achieved. The Patriots never rested their starters even when they had clinched the #1 seed. It took all they had to beat the Giants in game 16. As much as I admire them for that (and I am no Pats fan), I can't help but wonder if that cost them in the playoffs?
If the Patriots, or any team, is faced with the same situation, will they go about it differently now? Considering the perfect regular season is no longer a novelty or "history-making accomplishment", will teams be more likely to rest their starters?
I bet Don Shula certainly hopes so...

Sure they will. Its a thing that all NFL teams would love to go after. They won't rest their starters while its an item. I loved how the Giants went after them in week 16. They played their first unit all game and went after those cheatin B@stards. I am in Super Bowl Heaven that the G-Men showed up those glamour guys from beantown plus my girl has a Giants helmet on her car till next season because the G-men beat the Bills. I LOVE NFL FOOTBALL!!!!!

For all the so called football knowledge genius's out there, all those teams that went undefeated in the stone age of the NFL did so before the merging of the AFL-NFL leagues. So therefore the Dolphins are the only team to go undefeated for an "entire season". Entire being the key word. The season ends after the Super Bowl is over. The Regular Season ends at the completion of the last Regular Season game. As for having an easy schedule, you play who the league schedules you to play. Besides many teams have benefited from the same thing, ask Kurt Warner & "the Greatest Show on Turf", how many plus .500 teams they beat that year before the playoffs.

You have to no matter what the cost, They didnt necessarilly lose the game CAUSE they were undefeated, they lost it cause they lost it............did it hinder them a bit they didnt rest there starters, many could say it did, but then they got the bye week and the giants didnt, and They clinched the #1 spot pretty early, they coulda had there starters take december off probably......As far as layin off in week 16 there was much talk this offseason about resseeding the playoffs so teams dont dog it in the last game(ie the bucs and look what happened to them, they reseted there starters and STILL lost to the giants?), it got voted down but I for one am for it, it SUCKS to see a team like the bucs with a worse record dog it in the last game and then teams in other stronger divisions cant get in with better records
Your out there to win every single week and if you dont wanna do that they ya shouldnt be in the nfl... so I dont see any team stoppin if there close to having the perfect season

A team going undefeated has only happened 4 times in the history of the league.
I cant imagine a team not wanting to be the fifth if they could.

I think they will continue to go for it.
The Patriots were within 2 minutes of achieving the perfect season and would have gotten a lot had they finished the job.
That place in history is still waiting for someone to take it.

The whole idea if any sport is to win.Winning any kind of championship is always the ultimate goal.Going undefeated is a monumental task and unlikely but possible. As I like to say "any given team can lose to any other given team on any given day".

Yes, teams will keep shooting for it. because now the cheating Patriots season is tainted. Someone will shoot for it doing it the right way, not by cheating.

19-0 still hasn't been accomplished.
