Depends on how many answers are coming in on it. But generally, every time an answer comes in at first, then every half hour or so that evening. Next day, once or twice until I decide on best answer.

As often as I can click on refresh! lol
About every five minutes or so until I just get tired and forget about it. Then, I get an email telling me my question needs attention.

usually no more than twice, but some i don't bother with at all, particularly if the question has over 30 answers, like this one is likely to get.
