The word 'choupinou' in French?
I have seen the French word 'choupinou' used informally as a label for a pretty young man. Would 'twinkie boy' be a good translation?

"Choupinou" is not pejorative. If used about a young man, the equivalent expression would be "He is a perfect sweetie " "He is a real poppet" meaning that he is really nice and would not harm a fly, but it has no "gay" connotation whatsoever like "twinkie boy". As said above, in France it is used for someone young and cute as an affectionate nickname, like "Mon chou": "pet".

I think "twinkie boy" is a little more pejorative than choupinou. The latter is just a diminutive of "chou", so it means Sweetie Pie or something like that.

I'd translate it more along the lines of cutie, but 'twinkie boy' works fine, too.

choupinou means cute, it's used to talk about a kid or a puppy for example.
