How are these not impachable offenses by President George W. Bush and Vice President Dick Cheney?

1) Seizing power to wage wars of aggression in defiance of the U.S. Constitution, the U.N. Charter and the rule of law; carrying out a massive assault on and occupation of Iraq, a country that was not threatening the United States, resulting in the death and maiming of over one hundred thousand Iraqis, and thousands of U.S. G.I.s.

2) Lying to the people of the U.S., to Congress, and to the U.N., providing false and deceptive rationales for war.

3) Authorizing, ordering and condoning direct attacks on civilians, civilian facilities and locations where civilian casualties were unavoidable.

4) Instituting a secret and illegal wiretapping and spying operation against the people of the United States through the National Security Agency.

5) Threatening the independence and sovereignty of Iraq by belligerently changing its government by force and assaulting Iraq in a war of aggression.

Update:

6) Authorizing, ordering and condoning assassinations, summary executions, kidnappings, secret and other illegal detentions of individuals, torture and physical and psychological coercion of prisoners to obtain false statements concerning acts and intentions of governments and individuals and violating within the United States, and by authorizing U.S. forces and agents elsewhere, the rights of individuals under the First, Fourth, Fifth, Sixth and Eighth Amendments to the Constitution of the United States, the Universal Declaration of Human Rights, and the International Covenant on Civil and Political Rights.

Update 2:

7) Making, ordering and condoning false statements and propaganda about the conduct of foreign governments and individuals and acts by U.S. government personnel; manipulating the media and foreign governments with false information; concealing information vital to public discussion and informed judgment concerning acts, intentions and possession, or efforts to obtain weapons of mass destruction in order to falsely create a climate of fear and destroy opposition to U.S. wars of aggression and first strike attacks.

Update 3:

8) Violations and subversions of the Charter of the United Nations and international law, both a part of the "Supreme Law of the land" under Article VI, paragraph 2, of the Constitution, in an attempt to commit with impunity crimes against peace and humanity and war crimes in wars and threats of aggression against Afghanistan, Iraq and others and usurping powers of the United Nations and the peoples of its nations by bribery, coercion and other corrupt acts and by rejecting treaties, committing treaty violations, and frustrating compliance with treaties in order to destroy any means by which international law and institutions can prevent, affect, or adjudicate the exercise of U.S. military and economic power against the international community.

Update 4:

9) Acting to strip United States citizens of their constitutional and human rights, ordering indefinite detention of citizens, without access to counsel, without charge, and without opportunity to appear before a civil judicial officer to challenge the detention, based solely on the discretionary designation by the Executive of a citizen as an "enemy combatant."

10) Ordering indefinite detention of non-citizens in the United States and elsewhere, and without charge, at the discretionary designation of the Attorney General or the Secretary of Defense.

11) Ordering and authorizing the Attorney General to override judicial orders of release of detainees under INS jurisdiction, even where the judicial officer after full hearing determines a detainee is wrongfully held by the government.

Update 5:

12) Authorizing secret military tribunals and summary execution of persons who are not citizens who are designated solely at the discretion of the Executive who acts as indicting official, prosecutor and as the only avenue of appellate relief.

13) Refusing to provide public disclosure of the identities and locations of persons who have been arrested, detained and imprisoned by the U.S. government in the United States, including in response to Congressional inquiry.

14) Use of secret arrests of persons within the United States and elsewhere and denial of the right to public trials.

15) Authorizing the monitoring of confidential attorney-client privileged communications by the government, even in the absence of a court order and even where an incarcerated person has not been charged with a crime.

Update 6:

16) Ordering and authorizing the seizure of assets of persons in the United States, prior to hearing or trial, for lawful or innocent association with any entity that at the discretionary designation of the Executive has been deemed "terrorist."

17) Engaging in criminal neglect in the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina, depriving thousands of people in Louisiana, Mississippi and other Gulf States of urgently needed support, causing mass suffering and unnecessary loss of life.

18) Institutionalization of racial and religious profiling and authorization of domestic spying by federal law enforcement on persons based on their engagement in noncriminal religious and political activity.

19) Refusal to provide information and records necessary and appropriate for the constitutional right of legislative oversight of executive functions.

BECAUSE ... they REQUIRED the support of the House of Representatives and the Senate !!!!

    FYI ...

    04/13/08 -

    President Bush Job Approval

    RCP Average

    Approve 31.0%

    Disapprove 65.5%

    Spread -34.5%

Congressional Job Approval (DEMOCRATICALLY CONTROLLED) **********

    RCP Average

    Approve 22.0%

    DISAPPROVE 70.0% **********

    Spread -48.0%

    .

Democrats have to recognize that since the 73rd Congress in 1933, for a MAJORITY of THE LAST 65 YEARS, Democratic Houses of Representatives and Democratic Senates have CONTROLLED the nation and the President.

A TOTAL of 38 Sessions with Democrats in CONTROL for 28 of those!

WE need to inform/TELL our political representatives that WE NEED TO PASS a Constitutional Amendment for the LINE ITEM VETO.

This will keep the SPECIAL INTEREST GARBAGE from being attached to valuable legislation.

If Congress wants to give the president that power, they will have to pass a constitutional amendment, Supreme Justice John Paul Stevens said. "If there is to be a new procedure in which the president will play a different role in determining the text of what may become a law, such change must come not by legislation but through the amendment procedures set forth in Article V of the Constitution," Stevens said, on June 25th, 1998.

IF your special interest is SO valuable, why do you have to HIDE it in valuable legislation?

So, with them REFUSING to PASS the Line Item Veto, in reality, the House and Senate have REALLY been controlling the country!!

AND, with the CURRENT Senate and Congress having the WORST approval rating in HISTORY, hopefully we will see a LOT of changes after the general elections.

A recent Reuters poll is out and Nancy Pelosi and Harry Reid have pulled an upset: They have managed to make George Walker Bush twice as popular as CONGRESS.

RECENTLY - - JUST 13% of Likely Voters now say the DEMOCRATICALLY CONTROLLED Congress is doing a good or excellent job. A recent Rasmussen Reports national telephone survey found that 43% give Congress a poor rating.

Those results represent a slight decrease from the previous month, when 15% gave Congress a good or excellent rating.

Democrats generally believe in heavy fines for honest work, while rewarding sloth and indulgence.

Do YOU think that people should be able to do absolutely nothing productive and get government hand-outs for sloth and indulgence - healthcare, tobacco, alcohol, drugs, STDs, etc. ??

Do YOU want to have YOUR MONEY TAKEN from YOU and YOUR FAMILY to FINANCE these people ???

#1 How many billions (yes, with a B) have the congress mandated to this "war in defiance of the US constitution" - and would this defiance be based on the fact that congress must declare war? The amount of money supplied thorugh congress might give us an indication of what they really think about this "illegal" war. Follow the money trail.

I like #2 the best. A politician that lies to the people of the US, to Congress, and TO THE U.N. - can't believe that any politician has ever done that for any reason.

#3 How do you tell a dead terrorist from a dead civilian. How does any commander-in-chief accomplish this restriction during war? Remember carpet bombing, Hiroshima and Nagasaki - democrat presidents that were worthy of respect and not impeachment.

#4 Spying is allowed against suspected criminals - He deserves to be impeached if he doesn't do this.

#5 This was not a threat. It was accomplished and no, you don't get a do-over .... Saddam is dead.

#18 non-criminal is assumed? Let's try the terrorists AFTER they blow themselves up?

#20 The executive can reject or accept treaties at their will as they are equal to the legislative. The legality of the disagreement between the branches can be taken to the Supreme Court.

    a) Complain to the majority party in the senate and congess. They were supposedly voted in to end the war and perhaps impeach Bush.

    b) The majority party in congress is complicit in supporting all actions by president Bush in Iraq currently - complain to them.

    c) Now, consider carefully why a and b are true. Notice that the majority party of congress did not let President Clinton get away with lying to the American people - well, actually lying under oath which is known as perjury.

  • I agree with you, if Bill Clinton can get in trouble for not keeping his hands to himself than the same should be for Bush's deceit.

Congress for the most part during the Bush/Cheney administration was leaning to the right with Republicans. Democrats finally got the majority but by that time there is only 2 years left in Bush's term. It makes no sense now to get them thrown out of office because by that time they would be out of office. It would be even more of a waste of taxpayer's money to hold proceedings when more time could be spent focusing on fixing the problems at hand. Though, it would help if Bush doesn't veto everything the Dems throw at him.

In our best interests, I'm tired and just want checks/balances part of the government restored next year.

Well, the Constitution says the President can be ousted for "high crimes and other misdemeanors."

Although I think he should have been ousted merely for the BS....lying in a televised speach really ain't a crime.....CONGRESS gave him the OK for the invasion....even though THEY never declared war as the Constitution gives them the power to.....and spying on it's own citizens...although shameful...hard to prove it's an "illegal" act by any means.

They might be... but they are not since Congress authorized it all. This is evidence by the fact that Congress - not at all sympathetic to Bush - hasn't acted on impeachment or removal from office. Not all of your points are proven fact, however - and others have been worked through the courts.

I am not an expert on Politics but read enough to know what goes on..

I always wondered why they were not impeached but usually just came to the same conclusion posted by rednecks, below.

What i didn't understand is why those who did start the impeachment didn't get more support.

There cant be that many politicians with pockets filled by Corporate America, is there?

    Read and take heed.

We no longer live in a Democracy. If you think we DO you are kidding yourself.

George Bush proves that beyond a shadow of a doubt. His stupidity reigns supreme. He clearly is the puppet of a smallish group of wealthy goons who attempt to run the world to their own benefits.

Why waste time on impeachment. Overthrowing the crooked government is what is needed.

Yea well you lost me when you started talking about the UN. Defying the UN is not impeachable. Screw the UN. We are a SOVEREIGN nation. We owe the UN zip, zilch, nada. Try again without mentioning the UN. Who elected them an authority over me or my country? I never got a vote. Therefore they have 0.000000% authority over my life.

I don't think you can prove any of this. If I was president, I would not waist my time talking to the un or the congress. They are all criminals.
