  • How to enable OSX Snow Leopard web server and act as a wireless router?

    I have two issues.

    1) Is it possible to have a MacBook Pro act as a wireless router - I would like to have several devices connect to the MacBook, which will be running a web server as well. I'm hoping to avoid the need to have a separate external router.

    2) Does the standard OSX Snow Leapard include web server capabilities out of the box. I'm looking for a simple HTTP / PHP solution.

  • Saab 900s 1995 Starting Issue?

Intermittment problem with starting. Battery is new, alternator is newer, fuel pump is newer.

From time to time, upon putting car into "off" position from "lock" which would normally illuminate all dashboard lights, has the dash lights at about 40% strength and a strange ticking sound coming from near the fusebox on the drivers side - windows won't roll down at this point either. Removed fuse for Dashboard and ticking goes away. Fuse back in, trying to start car - it turns over and strongly - but won't start. After several times taking key in and out, the dash lights will be 100% and car will start. Doesn't trip and codes on the computer. Taken into import specialist as well as dealer - and, of course, they can't replicate the problem. 140,000 miles on car. Any ideas?

  • Twitter hashtag search to database?

I need to be able to take all Twitter tweets with a particular hashtag and fetch them into a database/spreadsheet.

I know that I can find a particular hashtag with the http://hashtags.org/tag/whatevertaghere page, but I can't find a way to convert it to an RSS feed or some other usable format.

  • Twitter Tweets to Database?

I'm looking to retrieve all messages from a twitter account and post it to a database. Ideally I'd like to have it go to a MySQL database on a PHP enabled server. Though I'm open to standalone solutions as well, the more automated the better... any leads?

  • Saab 900 rough idle in D?

    Here's the car: 1995 Saab 900S automatic 2.3L non-turbo 4cyl 130,000 miles

On starting, car idles very rough when car is in drive and foot on brake, low speeds (5MPH and lower) are also rough - car shakes somewhat. Idling gets better as car warms up. Also not so bad when car is in Neutral or Park.

I'm used to driving stick shift cars, so I'm not sure if a little vibration is normal in an automatic.

Not that it's related, but the SID (display) sometimes acts a little freaky (in addition to the dreaded missing pixels)

    -

While I'm at it here, any ideas on performance enhancement options for a car of this age. I love driving the car, but would like a little more "umph" in the acceleration. Cornering is already great.

  • Are movies like The Breakfast Club still relevant to teens today?

Or are movies from the 80's and 90's as foreign to kids today as Gidget and Jim Stark were to me?

  • Ford doesn't need assistance?

Does this make you have more respect for Ford and less likely to purchase a GM or Chrysler vehicle. Or is it simply a sign that Ford has had more success building and selling cars than its competitors?

  • What are some good Canadian movies that weren't released in the U.S.?

I really like foreign cinema - in particular French and English cinema, and was wondering if there were any good Canadian flicks that haven't made their way into the U.S. in general release.

Now that Obama has won, what do Obama supporters hope to change in their own lives that they weren't going to change before.

  • Canadian English vs U.S. English?

I know there are substantial differences between U.S. and U.K. English, but are they major differences between U.S. and Canadian English. I'm doing a website that is going to include content for Canada, and we'll have French Canadian translations made. In the past, I've had someone in the UK provide "translations" for that market, and I'm wondering if I should do the same for Canada.

  • Obama votes with Bush 89.8% of the time?

According to GovTrack, Obama has voted Aye 559 total times. Of these, 44 were for bills that passed, 5 were for bills that were vetoed by Bush, and the rest didn't make it to Bush's desk because they were items not subject to Presidential veto or they were Bills that didn't make it past Congress. That means, among the bills Obama has voted Aye for - Obama has voted with Bush 89.8% of the time.

  • Obama tax policy and jobs...?

If Obama plans on raising taxes on anyone over $250k, isn't he really increasing taxes on companies that keep jobs in the U.S.?

  • Winter storage of convertible.?

I have a nice 1995 Saab 900 convertible, and am looking to store it over the bulk of the winter (about 3 months) - in my garage which is not heated. I'm in Wisconsin, temps can get sub-zero for extended periods. What kinds of things should I do to prepare the car - especially little commonly overlooked things.

  • Website uptime strategies?

I need to develop a variety of websites that will be very high bandwidth and I'm looking for a good hosting solution. (5-10TB/mo). Uptime is extremely important - I've used Media Temple in the past, and though uptime was good, it wasn't 100%. Should I look into multiple hosts, if so how does the DNS work if one host is down?

  • When a gas price is obviously wrong, is it stealing to but it at that price.?

There's a story again today where gas was erroneously being sold for 35 cents a gallon. I know if I saw that, I'd probably be more inclined to alert the attendent rather than my friends and family. What's your opinion.

  • What would be the faster processor per core/processor.?

I have a program (RealFlow) only licensed to use 2 processors/cores. My hope is to find the fastest machine.

Right now I'm running a Dual Processor Xeon 5150 2.66GHz (dual core/each) with 4GB of RAM and Windows Vista 64bit.

Other hacks to trick the OS into treating mulitple cores as a one might be useful (don't know if such a thing exists). I'm just trying to get more processing power and don't want to waste it on multiple cores, since it doesn't really help this particular program.
