Tips on storing cooked left over pasta?
After making a pasta dish, if we don't eat it all, we like to save it.
When I store pasta, in tupperware, separately from the sauce, its always pasty, sticky the next day.
Anyone know how to keep it a bit fresher for the next day?

Rinse the pasta to remove excess starch and then toss with some olive oil. They will be fine in any dish the next day.

The reason the pasta is sticky is starch. If you cover the cooked pasta in any type of oil the sauce will not be absorbed into the pasta. The way you are keeping it is perfectly fine. If you are going to use the same sauce the next time, toss with a little sauce before storing. If you wash the cooked pasta the sauce sill not have any starch to cling to.
If you are going to make a cold pasta salad, toss in oil.
The next day to reheat, toss with a little sauce and heat.

Okay I used to work at Pizza hut a long time ago. All thier noodles are precooked. Toss with a super light coating of olive oil or butter then make sure they are all the way cooled. Keep them in a zip lock baggie. When you are ready to cook them then get some water boiling hot. Drop the noodles in for about 20-30 seconds and drain well. This will not over cook them and will keep them from being sticky or dry.

Don't over-cook the pasta. It should be still a little bit chewy. After taking it out of the water, toss it with olive oil. I wrap the leftovers (in single-serving sizes) in plastic wrap and put it in the fridge. To heat it up again, I drop back in boiling water just until it is hot again and it is as fresh and perfect as it was the day before.

I keep mine in water in the fridge and use it soon..like the next day for a veggie/noodle dish or lunch time food...
