he is well thought of in Wv and it should help Obama there a good bit, I would think.

Byrd used to be in the Klan, once upon a time, but like most of us, he appears to have changed and grown.

This has seriously depressed me; I loved Robert Byrd and to have him endorse Obama is just horrible. Honestly though, I don't think this will affect much in the election, because no matter who Byrd is supporting, McCain is going to win the election. Our country is tired of hearing the infighting between the democratic candidates, and hearing promises without really knowing what is being promised . Also, the country is not ready for either candidate, especially with what they are proposing in regards to the war...immediate withdrawl cannot work, it will only hurt the country and cause more problems. The country, no matter how much they hate the war will not sacrifice our security and that is what will happen if we elect either democratic candidate. McCain is the only choice, so it really doesn't matter who Byrd endorses.

considering that Sen. Byrd has been in the Senate for a million years much like Ted Kennedy and many other Obama supporters, I think it proves his empty rhetoric of change in Washington. How can he possibly change Washington when it is the Congress and Senate's job to enact and decide on policy not the President's, all the President can do is suggest it. That being said how exactly will this change come about when you have the same old senators and congress that could have already implemented this change but have not.

I think it will help a lot.

He even went so far as to say Obama is a humble Christian.

Maybe that will get through to some in his state who believe the lie that Obama is a Muslim.

But this won't matter to bigots. They just dismiss anyone who supports Obama and make silly comments like Byrd is old, or feeling guilty or something else. What are they going to say when Retired General Colin Powell endorses Obama ???

    That's coming soon!

I don't believe anything that Robert KKK Byrd says and if he endorsed Obama it's only because he wants people to believe he's no longer with the KKK which is a lie. Once you're in the KKK you're a life time member. It's so typical of Byrd to do something to make himself look good. Most West Virginians hate Byrd, I'm one of them. If he really endorsed Obama, you can be sure Obama is going to lose this election.

Sen Byrd just lost my support, and if he lives long enough to run again, I'll vote for someone else.

EDIT: I just wrote Sen. Byrd a letter expressing my feelings on his betayel to the people of WV. He's supposed to represent his state. We CLEARLY do not support Obama.

Senator Byrd will probably not get reelected. The people in WV do not have any love for Obama and will feel that the DNC pressured Senator Byrd to endorse him for the sake of party unity.

He's 91 his carreer is over. He is feeling guilt at that age I think. He also went against the vote of the people in his state. Oh well, another vote for McCain.
