if you use limewire or some program like that you can search for "bass tester" or something like that and there are songs that are just bass. i don't listen to rap or hip hop, but slightly stoopid is a band that has a lot of bass in it. closer to the sun, running with a gun. two songs that come to mind.

There is a song designed JUST for bass.
Its called, Bass Check by Lil Wyte.
It gets lower and lower, and if you can pick up the lows you have a good system. :)
