Richmond or Hampton area of VA?

I'm thinking of moving to VA and am wondering, which is the better (safer) area Richmond or Hampton? I would probably buy in one of the neighboring cities.

Thank you! :)

Not sure where you are moving from. I moved to Richmond from California a year ago. House prices are hugely different, I can afford a house here, that would cost me well over a million bucks in CA.

Richmond was recently listed among Forbes's top 14 places to live and work. It has growing business community, it is steeped in history, has a huge academic crowd, and 4 of the top Fortune 500 companies are headquartered here.

It is not as deep south as Georgia or Alabama. It is 2 hours drive from D.C. 2 hours drive from the beach, 2 hours drive to the mountains. Schools are good. Climate is bearable, summers are great, winters are not too cold. check out grpva.com for more info on the business angle.

I've never been to Hampton so cannot comment on that.
