1 1/2 to 2 lb. very lean chuck steak

1 pkg. Lipton dry onion soup mix

    1 (10 oz.) mushroom gravy

    Pepper, to taste

6 potatoes, peeled and cut in half

6 carrots, peeled and cut in half

Put chuck steak in bottom of crock pot. Sprinkle with pepper to taste. Sprinkle on the package of dry onion soup mix. Next, add the mushroom gravy, and finally add the potatoes and carrots and cover pot with the lid. Cook on low for 6 to 8 hours.

I don't like chuck roast by itself (or as a stew), but I love to make shredded BBQ sandwiches with it.

This is a great recipe, but I use the chuck roast instead of the stew meat......also, when I shred the meat I remove any fat that I come across.

If you don't have all these ingredients, you can even use a bottle of BBQ sauce.

    Hope it helps!

sprinkle chuck with favorite seasonings (s&p, onion powder)

then a light dusting of flour

brown in little oil on all sides

    remove to bowl

    add chopped onion and garlic

    add carrots and potatoes

throw meat and juices back in

    1 small can tomato sauce

cover all with beef broth or water...i add little red wine & water and it make meat so tender

    cook until meat falls apart

This recipe calls for short ribs, but I make it with a pot roast and it is seriously the best pot roast I've ever made. I make it often and everyone loves it. Tons of flavor. The olives sound strange, but they're wonderful and you can use pitted kalamata if you want.
