Pineapple burn?

I got a serious tongue burn from eating too much pineapple and now I can't taste anything. Is this a serious ailment or will it clear up in short while? I've been told that I may have some kind of Vitamin deficiency and to lay off the pineapple, but I need to know when am I going to get my taste buds back. Do I need to see my doc about this or just wait it out?

It's a reaction to the acidic level in the pineapple. It will probably go away on it's own, but if you want to check it out with your Doc, do it. kjl

wow i love pineapple so much and i eat a ton of it but I don't think I have ever had that so I don't know quite how normal it is... although I think maybe it will have to do more with the sugars than anything - was it real pineapple or canned because that makes a difference? I personally find the canned stuff sweeter and sometimes I guess you could call it a bit of a burning sensation although I never lose taste over it.
