job decision?

I am currently at a job that I am unhappy and have been at for 4 years. I got an offer at another job making a very minimal increase in pay. My question is, my current job now wants to negotiate and maybe over meet the rate and I would be getting a large increase in pay. The new job is pretty similar but a larger and more populated property. So it could be a toss up if I would like it just the same but it would be more opportunity later on.

What should I do keep the old job with good pay or new job with minimal increase but its a different job and may be later on other opportunities?

I would be completely honest with your current job. Let them know that it is not just about the money but also that you are unhappy. Then see if they would be willing to make improvements on that. Many times employees who are unhappy just leave and never let anyone know that they are unhappy. There could be a way to resolve the morale situation.

Two points; 1) I would reconsider what the new offer in your current job is. Take it, get the increase and 6 months later leave that job. It would look good on your resume that you were worth more money now than you were before.

    2) If you are really unhappy, just find something that you really like so that when you go to work you feel excited and happy. If the job you are taking is pretty similar, eventually you'll get bore as well. I stay at one job for 6 years because every time I tried to leave they gave me raises. Best of luck.

I believe that you will probably find yourself in the same position you are in now in a very short time if you take the new job. I think that you are getting bored with the work you are doing. Remember that just because there is a potential for different work in the future at this new job doesn't guaranty you will be doing it. I would explore a career in something that actually interests you and quit messing around with jobs. Find your passion and do that.

It sounds like you want validation on taking a risk. You've come to the right place. By all means take the new job. If nothing else it will be a shot in the arm of freshness.
