dancing with the stars of nascar?

helio castroneves said today that he's considering the move to nascar.

what do you think of the dancing superstar coming to dance with the stars of nascar?

personally, i like the idea - not because he's an open-wheeler, or because he'll open up the sport to more foreign fans, or because he was so "dreamy" on "dancing with the stars." i like the idea because he's one funny energetic guy. plus, maybe he can help penske out of the rut it's in, even if just by bringing a sense of humor to the place now that it seems to need one...

Update:

Tom G.: don't you think they come here as it is the most exciting and/or challenging sport around at present? and don't you think maybe ward burton's time to retire had come?

I have to admit, I've never followed any other motorsport other than nascar, and the truck series, so when the other drivers come over, I'm CLUELESS as to who they are!

Exceptions: I know who the following drivers are, Mario and Michael Andretti, Danica Patrick, and Dario Franchitti, and the only reason I'd ever heard of him, is cuz he's Ashley Judd's husband, John Force and his daughters.

Guess if Kyle goes to F1, I'm going to have to learn a thing or two.

I saw the article online early Wednesday that he may be considering the move. Then later on I read an article that said it's just a rumor as a result of Helio saying he'd like to give it a try sometime. Both are on Yahoo sports and NASCAR.com. I like the guy and agree with your assessment . Two things I don't understand. The dislike of open-wheelers expressed by many NASCAR fans and F1 fans using the argument that you don't see NASCAR drivers going to F1 proving that they are lacking skills. In my mind the fact that so many open-wheelers have moved or are considering a move to NASCAR and no stock car guys are moving to open wheel is proof that Nascar is as much a challenge as open-wheel racing if not more. Roundy round is certainly much more fan friendly. I've been to a few Gran Prix weekends and I enjoyed it. But it's tough to really get into it when you go relatively long periods of time without seeing any side by side action. I do love the atmosphere though. JPM said straight out this week that he is amazed at how connected to the fans NASCAR is because he didn't expect it and "You don't have that" in open wheel racing. He also stated that he loves it. I've heard drivers openly state that they got kind of bored with open wheel racing and therefore have moved or would like to move to stock cars. I refuse to debate who's more skilled and all that crap. If a guy can control any car at 200mph he or she automatically gets a certain amount of respect from me. And I say if a driver is good enough to get a liscense and run fast enough to qualify for a race, bring it and good luck to ya. As an owner though, I would insist that my driver run at least 3 or 4 ARCA races to get acclamated before driving in any NASCAR series. Besides, I think a commercial featuring Kasey and Helio bustin a move together would be hilarious. All you haters can feel free to pile on. I'm a big boy now. LOL

I have been against things like this from the beginning. I don't like when stars from other series come over to "try" Nascar which Helio and all the others were quoted as saying while there are aspiring stock car drivers and all ready established ones like Ward Burton losing their rides. It's nothing against the drivers themselves, it's the reasons they are here.

I really like Helio, he was fun to watch on Dancing with the Stars. I see no reason why he can't move to nascar just as long as he earns his spot.

I really think the guy could come into Nascar and make a immediate impact in Nascar just like JPM. I really do, I might be wrong but that guy can drive a car plus handle all of the media blitz he is getting and what he would get in Nascar.
