Is the glue on the back of postage stamps vegan?

    The answer I found is: "Maybe."

    Check it out:

    "Adhesives suitable for stamps are gum arabic and dextrin, for example. The artificial adhesives have the property of needing little water for moistening to obtain their maximum adhesive power within a very short time. Other possible adhesives are animal or fish glue, for example."

    These days, stamps have a tacky backing like a sticker, no licking needed. These must be some very old stamps you've got. Unfortunately, I don't know if the glue is vegan, but I don't see why it wouldn't be.

    They stopped using horses for glue making back in the 1960's.

    Most glues are veg based or a non animal based one.

    Seeing as how it's been years since I bought stamps you had to lick, I've never given this a moment's thought.
