1999 Suzuki GS500E Gasoline?
I just purchased a '99 GS500 and I was trying to find out if it needs 87 or 91 octane. I'm going to put a lot of freeway miles on it so if it needs only 87, will it be OK to put 91 in it?

According to the manual it is advisable to use 87 gasoline but i dont think it will hurt if you use 91. I would just go with what the manufacturer suggest 87.

I had a 2000, a great bike. It ran on 87 without any problem. It's a pretty international bike, so will run on just about any octane. Don't waste your money on higher octane- there is no advantage.

Wrong! higher octane will burn cleaner hence the engine will run better, have a longer life and give you even better mpg...
