20-30 albums?

I just bought my boys (ages 7 & 9) a CD player for there room, and I was thinking what CDs to get them. I've asked them several times what they like, but can't really seem to name anything. So far, they tend to listen to the radio (rock station). I'm thinking about buying them a small CD collection, something to get them started, but not just any 20-30 CDs. More like a "these are the highlights of the history of rock" type of collection.

If you were building this collection, what albums would you include?

    Who's Next--The Who

    Revolver--The Beatles

    A Night at the Opera--Queen

The Rise and Fall of Ziggy Stardust--David Bowie

    Wish You Were Here--Pink Floyd

    IV--Led Zeppelin

    Physical Graffiti--Led Zeppelin

Tommy--The Who (maybe wait until they're a little older for this one...I know a lot of teenagers who are creeped out by this album, but also some kids your sons' ages who love it).

    London Calling--The Clash

Dark Side of the Moon--Pink Floyd

    War--U2

    Abbey Road--The Beatles

Okay, not twenty albums at all. These are just some albums I've heard all the way through and really enjoy. You should also include albums by:

    The Kinks

    Elton John

    Billy Joel

    The Doors

    Chuck Berry

    Elvis

    Buddy Holly & The Crickets

I hope this helps! Your sons will really enjoy this gift!
