Female Guppy to fry or not to fry ? Preggers or not ?
My female guppy hasnt had a mate in alittle over a month or so. I purchased her around Easter and she hasnt had any fry since but, I think I noticed her gravid spot being dark and black and she does seem to be alittle plum. Attached is a few photos I hope someone can shed some light on this for me so i know what to and when about to expect. And about how long if she is before yout hink she will drop fry ? I need to make sure to place her in the mommy ward tank.

Fish are very clever when it comes to this. Some females store sperm for later ( yes its gross) its happened to one of my swordtails before i had it for 3 months and i didnt have a male when i asked at my local aquatics centre thats what they told me. So she could be pregnant. But just watch out as it could be dropsy which is horrid. Search dropsy with tropical fish on the net and it will come up with the symptoms if this is the case then get rid of the fish quickly ( but it doesnt look like it has dropsy atm so you should be ok but just keep an eye out) hope she is just pregnant hope this helps.

20-50 is time-honored, in spite of the undeniable fact that it relies upon on the scale and well-being of the female. A small lady could basically drop some fry, under 5. The record is unquestionably over a hundred!!! yet for a common lady, 30 could be approximately average. Ian Edit: a girl guppy can breed while they're extremely small, in line with risk basically 3/4" long. yet anticipate basically some fry. some strengthen into "huge Mommas" that are 3" long and could drop a hundred fry. time-honored adults could be 2" long, anticipate the traditional 20-50 fry. Livebearers can store sperm from males for many, many months, and a lot of the time you don't have a male in the tank but you suddenly have four or five batches of fry simultaneously.

the picture didn't help me but she can be with fry since they do store sperm and can drop as many as 5 times from one male encounter one thing you can do to be on the safe side in case she drops before you get her into a breeder is to float breeder grass for the fry to hide in if she is expecting lord only knows when she will drop
