Spiritually speaking, What is Love?

When we speak of Love Spiritually do we mean something different than love as normally thought of in the world? What is the difference? How would Spiritual Love manifest to us in both receiving & giving. What purpose does Love serve, or is it something beyond purpose & label?

Thanks for answering & Blessings to all!

I cannot put into words what the Higher Love is except to say that it is the pulse of oneness that radiates from Source. It is beyond light and dark and good or evil. It embraces us and all things. It leads us, it beckons us, it is the gentle caress of the summer breeze and the awesome power of a destructive cyclone. We are that Love, and we co-create through that Love and by that Love. It is the Being in being. In both giving and receiving it gathers the threads and creates a unified weave creating oneness and order where chaos and separation existed. It is all things and all things are Love. Sorry, my answer is like trying to describe the ocean having felt a misting rain - but thank you for the question and the chance to answer.

spiritually speaking love is intertwined with love in the real world because your spirit is inside you and drives everything you do in the real world so by it's very nature love is to act, , but when one acts with the purest intent then it becomes a more mature kind of love.

I was almost going to say I higher kind of love but I have seen the fault in getting lost in all this spiritual analogy. It is all very simple actually. If you act out of love for others you souled do what comes naturally to you (or which you even have to force for reason sometimes) to act in the best inter sets of all those that interest you. One becomes dark when you start to act in your own interests only. This also meas that everything that would be done for you would be done out of love and therefore far more creative than anything you might have wanted to orchestrate out of your own narrow interest. One becomes bitter and cynical when you trust in no-one but yourself and your beliefs are born out by the reaction you create.

Hope this all kind of makes sense to you because I just let go a little bit.

but then still did and edit.

Have a loving weekend and thank for making me think

Like everything else, people who define love by quoting the bible just show that they don't understand it well enough to use their own words.

That's right, I'm talking to you as you reach down with your mouse and close your mind by giving me a thumbs down. That's why you're going to stay stuck in that frame of mind.

Spiritually, love is an empathic connection that makes it nearly impossible for us to do things that we believe are harmful to the person we love because things that hurt them hurt us just as much. The concept of tough love was introduced because sometimes we have to let the people we love hurt themselves. It hurts us as much as it hurts them, but they need it to learn, so we have to bear the discomfort.

This is the biblical description of love which I know to be accurate... God bless you !

    New King James Bible

    1 Corinthians 13

    The Greatest Gift

1 Though I speak with the tongues of men and of angels, but have not love, I have become sounding brass or a clanging cymbal. 2 And though I have the gift of prophecy, and understand all mysteries and all knowledge, and though I have all faith, so that I could remove mountains, but have not love, I am nothing. 3 And though I bestow all my goods to feed the poor, and though I give my body to be burned, but have not love, it profits me nothing.

4 Love suffers long and is kind; love does not envy; love does not parade itself, is not puffed up; 5 does not behave rudely, does not seek its own, is not provoked, thinks no evil; 6 does not rejoice in iniquity, but rejoices in the truth; 7 bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things, endures all things.

8 Love never fails. But whether there are prophecies, they will fail; whether there are tongues, they will cease; whether there is knowledge, it will vanish away. 9 For we know in part and we prophesy in part. 10 But when that which is perfect has come, then that which is in part will be done away.

11 When I was a child, I spoke as a child, I understood as a child, I thought as a child; but when I became a man, I put away childish things. 12 For now we see in a mirror, dimly, but then face to face. Now I know in part, but then I shall know just as I also am known.

13 And now abide faith, hope, love, these three; but the greatest of these is love.

Many people still only think of love in the physical sense such as sexual intercoarse but other types of love exist such as the love a mother feels when a child is born, the inner love we feel when we are free of emotional burdens and intellectual love between friends with similar interests.

Love is all there is. Love makes the world go round and everything else too. Love is what gives you life and breath, and it is what connects you and me to each other and All That Is. When we are connected in love, we are happy, alive and full of energy because Love is the energy. When opposites, male and female, yin and yang, come together in the name of Love, magic happens. The energy between the two through sexual union connects them most profoundly to All the Love in this wonderful universe. Simply put, Love is all that is beautiful and alive.

    The love of God has been defined as God-giving and God-yearning. The fact of His love is stated many places in the Scriptures. John4 :8; He that loveth not knoweth not God;

for God is love. [ Ephesians 2:4-5; John 3:16 ]

How can you Love if you are one?

[Edit] Love is opposite of hate, which happens in the domain of mind. For a true spiritual person all opposites vanish and one is established in its own Dharma. Here Dharma represents true-nature, as fire true-nature is to radiate heat and light. If fire does not radiate heat and light, it will not be fire. Our subtle bodies expand in love and contract in hate. For beginners, love creates positive and conducive environment for Spiritual Practice.
