Why don't people just google their question instead of asking it here?
When ever I am researching the internet for an answer to a question I have, I inevitably find a link to yahoo where someone has asked the same question I am seeking to answer. Nine times out of ten the question is something that could be easily answered with a couple minutes research. It's not like you even have to go to a library anymore, just type your question into a search engine. I just want to know if it is a need to communicate with others, some sort of chat board addiction, laziness or just plain ignorance. So, why do you do it? Before you cuss me out, keep in mind that I am asking a question that can't be answered by googling. I am completely serious, and I want your personal answer.

One good reason that I see quite often is that people can't develop a question well enough to get a correct response from a computer. Humans can figure out what somebody is trying to say with very little info. And spelling!! some people can't even get close enough for the spell checker to help them. Humans can figure out what they are asking... or... they can ask for clarification.
It is also entertaining to ask and answer questions. It is kind of a human interaction thing I would guess.
And it is much easier than searching, just ask the question and go check your e-mail while the answers come rolling in.
Myself, questions that I ask are either to see how people are reacting to a current event or to maybe find somebody that has experience with something I am having trouble with and haven't found a suitable answer doing research. I don't ask too many question though.
I think it is a challenge to find questions that generate a large response too. The ones that get 30 plus answers and the answerers get really involved is some peoples goal when asking question. I have tried to think of such a question, haven't thought of one though.

Websites are informative, but they do not answer questions in human relationships, human behavior, "why am I like this or that", etc.
It's a variety of intelligent answers or responses from real people that enlighten an asker.
In some areas like "Words and Wordplay", many questions involve looking up in the dictionary or search thru internet and the asker admits he's just plain lazy to do it himself because of other school projects.. They would give you 20 or 30 words for their meaning and use them in a sentence. Of course, it would be foolish for me to answer and do their homework. If the asker can type 20 or 30 words in the computer, he might as well get a dictionary or search the internet and study the meanings himself..

You are right but people do it for several reasons. One is that you can get very valuable inforamtion directly from people with a direct question instead of vage answers from websites found in search engines. The second is that people like to comunitcate, its different when the person writing the text wrote it years ago. Another reason is people just like to use yahoo answers.

I know, I think that too. But then again, some things are better to hear from real people, while others are just lazy or something. Well, I don't really care because otherwise it might be more difficult for me to get points.

well we all have our different choices i mean think of it this way "how come i have to stay on this website all the time to answer my questions?" now put it this way [ i mean like on other websites] "woohoo I'm finally away from the ******* website i mean i am always asking questions and it only answers 5/10 now i can ask the question on yahoo and people will answer it. i get like 6 different answers that are really good

I think because here you get a larger range of answers. You get more people coming from different sides of the problem, with different points of view. Meanwhile, the stuff you find on google is a "general" answer.
Hope this helps :)
