Who is Marcus Belby in Harry Potter and the Half- blood Prince?

marcus belby is the skinny quiet boy that was introduced to harry in slughorn's carriage on the train on the way to hogwarts ,but never made it into the slug club as he and his father had stopped talking and lost contact with his famous relative that was in slughorn's slug club when he last teached at hogwarts.

He's one of the stuck up Ravenclaws in the Slug Club.

It talks about him on page 137-138:

It describes him as "thin and nervous looking"... then Slughorn offers him a "pheasant", whatever that is and Belby accepts it...then Slughorn says he taught his Uncle Damocles who acquired an Order of Merlin and apparently invented the Wolfsbane Potion. Then Slughorn asks Belby if he sees his uncle much and Belby replies saying, "Not... not much of him, no," and that his father doesn't get along with his uncle... and that's pretty much it, apart from him also choking on the.. er.. "pheasant".

Wow. I didn't know any of that either. I feel so sorry for his family. Hope that answers your question.

All I know is that he was a Ravenclaw and that he wanted to be in the Slug Club.

I don't either, so he must have not been a major character at all. It really sucks about the actor. :(

i just read the article about how the actor who was going to play him was stabbed to death! but anyway, i think he was a ravenclaw
