Is it possible to put a CPU with a 1333 FSB on a motherboard that supports a maximum 1066 FSB?

I have an Intel 4300 CPU on an Asus P5L-MX motherboard. I would like to upgrade the processor to an intel E6850 CPU but it has a 1333 FSB and the manual for my motherboard says that it has a maximum 1066 FSB. Is this possible to do or do I need to stick to a CPU that has a 1066 FSB?

no. your mobo MUST list the exact chipset and FSB speed. either get a cpu with 1066 or buy a new mobo. you will ruin your cpu if you install it in that mobo.

My best answer is for you to check the website of the manufacturer of the motherboard. Most if not all motherboards will have a list of CPU's that will work with a certain motherboard. It is probable that the CPU with the 1333 MHZ FSB simply won't be recognized by the motherboard.
