You try to buy ceramic tiles to cover your your bathroom floor. You have to calculate the surface using geometry.

You need a new hallway carpet. You will measure the dimensions of the hall first. That's also geometry.

You need to see how much paint you'll need to paint the house. The manufacturer says you need half a gallon /sq. foot. You have to calculate the total surface and then see how much paint you need.

You have to calculate the volume of your garden pool so that you know how mucht the water you put in it will cost. And so on...

you see things and you "automatically" deduct how far they are. this happens thanks to geometry. Your eyes are the base of a triangle. They see slightly different images, and have to focus on the object. The brain processes that information to compute and estimate of the distance (this gets trained from ages 0 to maybe 6 months). for more distant objects, typically the brain uses size. But again, it's geometry that supports the assumption that when things are further away, they appear smaller. so even w/o using any tools or building anything, you're using a lot of geometry in your daily life!

you know many people think hwy do we have geometry. it wont help us in anyway in our college life .SO ITS FOR THOSE PEOPLE ESPECIALLY

If your planning on attending a liberal arts college, or pretty much any 4 year institution for that matter, your going to have a Mathematical Reasoning general education requirement. Even if your an English major, you're going to have to pass a math class., and it WILL NOT be as easy as remembering Chief SOH CAH TOA.

It's entirely possible that your chosen career path will not involve a single trigonometric function and you will never use your TI-83 ever again, but be glad you are at least familiar with these basic concepts of mathematics. They will come in handy if you ever plan to build/buy/rent/sell a home, do your taxes, measure something...etc you can thing of more of these examples.

Your schools reasoning behind making you suffer through this is not to prepare you for a career in math, but to make you a better rounded individual, with respect and competencies in all disciplines. I liken your question to a computer nerd who wonders why he has to read Shakespeare.

like when you bounce a ball the angle that it hits the ground is the angle it bounces off at on the other side, try it! (angle of incidence equals angle of diflection)
