why can't republicans and democrats stop bashing each other??
why can't we pay attention to the real issues instead of bashing each other???
all I ever hear is bush is a liar, conservatives are stupid, liberals are a bunch of hippies, liberals have no morals, etc...
its so rediculous!!
can't we respect each other at least enought to be civil and solve some real issues???
if we actually want peace we have to be able to work together or it will never ever work.

You're right, there should be more than just bashing. In fact, there should be more than just "issues". What we're starving for is "principles".
A principle is a core belief from which one can predict future behavior. An issue is merely a current topic.
If you want real and consistent discussion of principles without all the name calling and propaganda, take a look at this party.
Our candidate, who will be on the ballot in all fifty states, is Bob Barr. You may already have heard something of him.
But anyway, to answer your first question, they bash each other to keep up the illusion that there's a difference between them.
As far as the two parties working together, some of the biggest problems we have today are a result of the two parties working together.

If you believe in professional wrestling then you believe what is being foisted on the American public..in the end all these candidates will make nice and shake hands and say
"we sure fooled those suckers" or something like this as it is all about a game of smoke and mirrors..
One minute a candidate says one thing to one special interest group and in the same day flip flop to another special interest group..its beyond belief when I see people inflamed by the rhetoric that is coming out of this campaign..
It was not always like this as the US is getting to view this like some kind of sporting evern..folks this is not a football game..it is a real life and death situation we face..vote wisely

I wish that there were more people like you. Thank the founders of american party politics, Alexander Hamilton, Thomas jefferson, Jackson, Martin Van Buren, and Madison. Since them, the angry party politics has dominated our country, and kept us from finding a middle ground.
Thats a main reason why I like Hillary. she isn't very far left (Obama), can work with Republicans, but still holds true to liberal values (Pro-gay rights)
maybe by the year 3000 we will get it right.

I have tried to get info. on here by asking republicans why they are voting for McCain for example & I end up getting deleted as if my question isn't a question. Or if I ask why dems want Obama they write things like he doesn't wear a flag pin so then I say "he said he does sometimes" I then want to ask if they wear one or why it is so important so this the bashing I do. What would you suggest?

It never used to be this way. In fact, it was difficult to even tell who was a Republican and who was a Democrat. Things have changed and now it's not good enough to disagree, it must be done in a hateful manner denouncing everyone that disagrees with your views.

Both sides have been reduced to calling each other names. This way they don't have to address their true beliefs. If you point fingers at your opposite, you don't have to make a valid point. What we are now lacking is an honest debate. The other things missing are honesty and intelligence.

It all started with Reagan and his liberal this and that. I blame him solely for the vast split. Before him, Dems and Repubs got along pretty well.
