How do I know which crank arm puller I need?
I am fixing up some bikes for low income kids in the neighborhood and need to pull the crank out of one. It's a cheap Chinese made Huffy mountain bike and I can't find any information on what type of puller I need. It looks to have a square shaft with threads in the crank arm where a puller would screw in.
Is there a puller that works on a majority of these cheap bike cranks so I can get the most use out of it? Thanks for your help.

Parktool and Shimano both make great tools.
Lifu makes good tools too and at half the price.[give or take]
My Shimano cable cutters are my fave.
My Park cone wrenches ,I cannot live without.
My Lifu crank extractor is the most versatile crank puller I have used and can easilly be carried in a toolbag when riding.Contains 14x15mm Sockets and 8mm Hex Key for Crank Bolts and Crank Arms Removal.
Sure the Shimano and Park are better but not as versatile, nor as affordable.
I hope this can be of help

you're using the right extractor i'm hoping. if so, make specific the outdoors threads of the extractor circulate in fairly certainly a minimum of three-4 threads deep into the crank arm. (back out the middle bolt of the extractor till it rather is flush with the interior face no rely if it rather is not already.) Then crank away. they may well be relatively tight and take a lot of stress to eliminate. merely make specific you will not bust your knuckles on something if it provides suddenly considering the fact it rather is often the way it occurs. in case you could not get it off that way, it rather is relatively useful to take it to a expert motorbike keep the place they have some specific suggestions. Banging on the crank extractor with a hammer or using a three' cheater bar might do the trick yet could additionally reason some harm.
