'90-'96 300zx Transmissions. Turbo Vs. Non-Turbo?

I own a '96 240sx. A common swap for us 240 guys is to get a VG transmission from the car stated in the topic. The VG30 has a more robust transmission than the KA24's.

My question is whether or not there is a difference between turbo and non-turbo VG transmissions, in terms of strength and/or gear ratios.

I don't know but I would look to the 240 forums for your answer. I would bet it would be cheaper for Nissan to use the same tranny and gears and just adjust the gearing by using a different rear end so I would say they are the same. But not sure.

Same internal gears and syncros, turbo and non however the Turbo trans has 1/4" more roon inside the bellhousing for the turbos slightly larger flywheel. Now are you sure the side mounted 300zx starter motor will work with the motor mounted starter KA-24 engine? I guess you need to go online siliva/ S-13 and S-14 forums and ask some more questions.

i don't know the answer but knowing how transmissions work i would have to say that there is a difference. turbo transmissions have to be a lot more resistant to the boost of the car and have to withstand all the torque given off by the turbo engine. the NA engine would need a lighter transmission as it wouldn't need to withstand a lot of power. thats just a guess but got to the forums and your question should be answered
