TORT QUESTION: Has Williams vs. State been overturned?
Williams v. State says that the police does not have a duty to investigate in the absence of any special relationship with an individual such that the police may not be held negligent if they fail to investigate.
Has this been overturned by any recent jurisprudence?

After reading about 65 Williams v State cases, I gave up. However, currently, in my jurisdictions there exists : No duty for any law enforcement officer to respond or investigate to an individual (except if their own SOP requires them to do so, which is an internal "problem"). And soverign immunity is still intact on any civil liability should they not respond or investigate. Post the citation. It is unlikely that will ever change. Officers and departments would be liable if they had 2 officers on duty and 50 crimes/ calls occurred at once; situations that are not under their control
