1 AnswerNotices and Errors1 decade agoShe killed her father?
On Montel today, was the story of two sisters, one of which eventually killed their father. He had raped them for a decade, since one was four. Even abducted the younger child and took her Liberia. She fled to the American consulate and returned to the US. He followed and she killed him. She is now charged with Homicide and a lessor charge of Manslaugther (for the jury to consider). What should her punishment be? And if you were the judge, could you sentence her to prison.? Obviously, the rule of law is, that she took another's life, and she is currently awaiting trial. What say you?

3 AnswersNotices and Errors1 decade agoSince state laws and penalties can vary a significantly, do you think justice is really being served?
For instance, possession of less than an once of Marijuana in one state is a minor (I didn't use the term class and number because that also varies from state to state) misdemeanor punishable by a fine of $50.00; across the border; the same crime is punishable by up to five years in the state penitentiary ( and sentences of that length are common). Is there a Constitutional issue? Or should the states be able to impose any penalty they choose?
6 AnswersLaw & Ethics1 decade agoLegal theory regarding the illegality of faking your death.?
The question was: is it illegal to fake one's own death. Many responded to the illegality of the consequences: SS#, identity, taxes , etc. That was not the question. I would like to know under what legal theory faking your own death; if their was no gain from insurance etc. Eliminate everything else, and provide a legal theory based on the plain language of the question. This is an intriguing question.
