Why do people wear corsages to prom?

you don't have to wear a corsage. its a tradition, but there are a lot of choices. for girls, there are little wristlet flowers or you could wear a pinned one. for guys, its basically the pinned one. no one will force you to wear one, but they usually look very nice. you also don't have to wear it the whole time. you might want to go to a flower shop and have them show you the different types. hope this helps!

This is a tradition, but it's entirely up to you. How about a small one that can be worn on your wrist? Maybe you could wear a pretty flower in your hair instead? Today girls don't usually wear the traditional corsage on their shoulder as they used to. There are also flowers that can just be carried with a little purse. Choose what you feel most comfortable with. Don't do it just to be like everyone else.

AMEN! I am a floral designer on the side and I have made a few upon request and I probably should not be saying this but I think a diamond bracelet is so much more classy. I don't know why everyone wears one but think red carpet class......Ditch the corsage!

It's just tradition, I think. You don't HAVE to, and nothing will happen if you don't, but I think that it would be pretty uncomfortable, especially for the girl. You don't have to wear one if you don't want.
