Home-made fries healthier? Than fast food or frozen bagged fries you put in your oven?
I love fries! But I was wondering HOW MUCH healthier it would be to make my own fries (by cutting up potatos and baking them) as opposed to the fast-food or the Oridea Bagged Frozen fries?
Thanks

Much healthier :) You can even fry them nowdays in the Omega 3 oils that they sell which has no trans fat and is healthy for your (or you can use olive oil if you can afford it:)

you can do this and it is way healthier. I was watching Healthy Decidence with Devon Alexander and she was making her own french fries and she boiled them before she baked them so they would come out crunchy and not soggy. She put some salt on them and she said they were much more healthy than the ones you get from fast food. They also looked very easy to make and didnt take long.

Baking is ALWAYS healthier than frying. They use the same oil all day long at most fast food joints, and the oil is LOADED with salt. Bagged and frozen fries have so many preservatives to keep them from going bad, you don't want to pollute your body with that.

Baking your own sliced potatoes is sooo much healthier. It has less fat, bad calories, bad carbs, and sugar. (Depending on what ingredients you put in them like spices.) i have made them before and they taste VERY Delicious!
Here is a quick recipe:Slice little red potatoes into chunks or slivers. (Thick or thin, however you like them) and marinate them in Italian dressing. Then put them in the oven for a couple minutes to bake. Then add dill, chili powder, salt, pepper, and crushed garlic or garlic powder. Then put them in the oven again to bake. Bake them until they are the way you like the I love them when they get golden-brown and crispy!
Hope this helped!

try doing this, they are delicious and so much better for you than fried:
Boil your potatoes so that are slightly soft, but still quite firm
cut to desired size
toss with some garlic powder, paprika, dried parsely, thyme or whatever seasonings you like
drizzle with some olive oil
spread out on a baking pan lined with parchment paper or foil and bake at 425 for about 25 minutes of until nice and crisp, turning once to brown evenly.

It depends on the oil you use and how you cook them.
But they are much healthier and you know that you won't find some old person's arm hair in your sack of fries (bad mcdonald's experience).

Considerably... you don't have to worry about over-salting, or all the nasty grease, especially since that fast food grease has lots of bad trans fats.

ummm its a lot healthier because it doesnt have all the oils and fats, just like homade popcorn(popping Kournels)
